Nice little psych number. (Special Londres 5.24.69)

"Hail Bop," the first proper track from Django Django's self-titled long player, crossfades in from the animal croaks and calls, the utterings both machine and human, of the album's introduction. With that track (understandably entitled, "Introduction") it's as though the band has asked for just a couple minutes of our time in order that they tune up their instruments and warm up their voices. Given the circumstances – it seems as though the band is setting up in the middle of a rainforest – we oblige. Sure enough, by the time "Hail Bop" begins officially, a moment signaled by [...]
M83 broke into the indie scene in a big way last year (check out the Top 10 Breakout Artists of 2011 ) and ever since there's been a slew of epic chillwave bands popping up around them, riding their sprawling wave. I Break Horses, with their only LP release Hearts (released two months prior to M832s Hurry Up We're Dreaming I might add) have been an integral part of shaping this budding genre. But, how long can you producing landscape-inducing melodies until they become over-gimmicky? The answer lies within the soul of the music, the feel [...]

Documentary footage from France. Featuring an Ultra-Cool French Pop-Psych/Freakbeat band called "Les Something", who I don't think made any records. I couldn't find any info on them, anyway. Lots of great shots of cool 60's French dancing teens. It was labeled "Magasins Des Jeunes Mini Jupes et Cheveux Longs" which Google Translate tells me means "Mini-skirts, Kids, Stores and Long Hair". Not sure if that's an actual title or just something somebody made up. No idea when this was broadcast or on what show.

As major labels continue to exist behind the times, artists and labels with little capital and lesser reputations are producing some of the most innovative, interesting, and inspiring music. Whether it's creating a new niche in digital technology or looking to once obsolete formats, Agitated Atmosphere hopes to pull back the curtain on a wealth of sights and sound from luminaries such as Six Organs of Admittance . The loss of Ben Chasny from Seattle (however temporary his stay) is a hole that will be hard to fill. Chasny's presence in town lent itself to [...]

Relax to Project Primer 's dreamy remix. As the sond begins, it envelopes you within the clouds. This nebulous drifts back and forth like a receding tide to slowly pull you away from reality. Without A Word (Project Primer Remix) by Birdy |Remastered| by Project Primer
Another official video from Unknown Mortal Orchestra to remind us that psychedelic pop can be fulfilling and joyous in its simplest form and that the trio is still working the shit out of their fantastic debut album. Out of the four clips they've produced over the year, "Little Blu House" is bar far the sexiest and most surreal — fits their music perfectly if you ask me — but "Thought Ballune" is the most story-like. Jordan Blady directs this literal interpretation that includes odd-looking people and cupcakes.

Slow swaying instrumentation lend to deliberate and pronounced vocals from Alex Ebert on his first solo album Alexander . You may recognize his voice from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, as the hippie-looking lead singer. On Alexander , Ebert is all over the place; one moment he channels the deep drawl of Johnny Cash, the next a higher pitched Bob Dylan. Some tracks have a beachy feel while others have the semblance of a folk ballad, and then there are heavily psychedelic moments. Despite the album having a schizophrenic-type variety, there are elements which are [...]
Let me relate a little story to you. I had the pleasure of seeing Das Racist, the obnoxiously obscure and odd-ball rap trio (well, duo, because one of them is a ridiculous hype man). Click the orange to read more about them. So DR was doing their thing on stage- dancing like baboons, feeling themselves, writhing all over the place- but I wasn't paying attention to them. On the turntables was a pale white guy with long blonde hair that looked like it'd gone through a curling iron. His eyes [...]
"Bay area psychedelic teens The Savage Resurrection cut only one LP, but what an album it is! This single is also the lead off track, and establishes a hypnotic groove that grooves along relentlessly for a mere 40 minutes. Unlike many of their plodding contemporaries, these youngsters were waxing cuts like this that can light up a ballroom dance floor into a swaying, grooving amoeba." "Sadly, the band only lasted one year, imploding after two key members quit. The group fulfilled some tour dates with replacement members but completely folded by the end of '68. The group HAS [...]
"Larry "Rhino" Reinhardt was a psychedelic rock guitarist who is most often recognized for his time spent playing in both Iron Butterfly and Captain Beyond . Born and raised in Florida, Reinhardt began playing professionally during the mid '60s. His earliest bands of note were the Thunderbeats , the Load , and the Second Coming which also included Dickey Betts , Berry Oakley , and Reese Wynans ." via themusicsover.com
