PULSAR - POLLEN (DREAMTIME EDIT) (MEDIAFIRE link due to server limitations) Hi Everybody! I had a lot of requests to post this DreamTime Edit apart from my DreamTime Departures Vol. 13 series. So here it is, without the mixed in sound effects, just like requested... It truly sounds like a French Pink Floyd track in this mix....thanx for pointing that out didgeridoo42! It's the 1974 recorded album Pollen by French band Pulsar . [...]

Shoegaze of the highest order via Israel. "Sway with Me", the lead track from the band's superb Pulsar LP, is beautiful, romantic, transportive - all of the things that make good shoegaze great. Bela Tar - Sway With Me via YYY Bela Tar Bandcamp Rating: 8.6

Bela Tarr (Zoe Polanski) delivers a chilling lone guitar on "Salty Lights", and the grainy video fits the mood. It almost sounds looped. Purchase Bela Tarr's Pulsar over at her Bandcamp page. Bela Tarr: "Salty Lights" - Directed by Valentina Dell'Aquila: (via ISO50 )

Retro/Grade is Italo-disco duo consisting of Serge Santiago and Tom Neville. You might have heard Tom Neville's brilliant remixes of Mika and The Ting Tings , both released couple of years ago. They're one of 20102s most promising up-comers and their Italo-disco revival attempts haven't gone unnoticed. I believe they're name comes from the astronomical term Retrograde motion which fits perfectly with their musical vision because while every other producer is in a search of new musical styles, Retro/Grade is progressing backwards in time exploring modern Italo-Disco. Retro/Grade - [...]
“Pulsar” was made by Katushi Bowda in 1990. This exercise in video surrealism was...

Tom Neville and Serge Santiago are the latest producers to have joined forces to become a 'super duo', and now go by the name of Retro/Grade. The sound they've created stands out like a sore thumb - contemporary yet retro at the same time. Picture NES computer games being muddled with Disco and Techno and you're on the right tracks. We're loving this sound - and a whole host of top guns are waxing lyrical about them too. We're only allowed give you this track, in fact we can't even stream either of the tracks they've actually released. [...]

The gauntlet has been throw down. Your move light : "The radio pulse from the pulsar is suspected to have picked up some of the excess speed by passing through a cloud of neutral hydrogen atoms, which causes the radio waves to increase their electromagnetic wavelength (a process called "anomalous dispersion")." This marks the first time FTL has been observed to occur outside of our planet, ie not in an experiment lab.

The Pulsars played a rare NYC appearance opening for Wye Oak and Field Music (who cancelled) at The Bellhouse in Brooklyn. I didn't get "the skinny" on why The Pulsars showed up in NYC, but it seems that the show was for someone's birthday, since The Pulsars and Wye Oak repeatedly mentioned it, saying things like "Thanks for having us out and Happy Birthday". I wonder what it would be like to have the clout to say, "hey Pulsars dudes, its my Birthday, why don't you come [...]

Rumors at The Bell House (12/03/09) Photos : Jon Klemm Field Music didn't make it, but Pulsars, Wye Oak , and an all-star cast of indie rockers came out to celebrate the 25th birthday of Jack "Skippy" McFadden on Thursday night at The Bell House. The mystery headliner, billed as Rumors , was in fact the multi-talented Loser's Lounge , who did a classic album set of Fleetwood Mac 's Rumors with a rotating cast of singers [...]
When it comes to reunions, Brooklyn's Bell House will be getting a double serving on December 3rd. On that day, both the Pulsars , the '90s synth pop band that was once considered to be the "next big thing," and U.K. indie rockers Field Music will reunite after lengthy absences for one hell of a reunion show. And, perhaps most incredibly, tickets are still on sale . If you don't know, the Pulsars (brothers Dave and Harry Trumfio) were one of the first bands to sign with Herb Albert and Jerry Moss' Almo Sounds [...]

When Laura Ann Masura's longtime friend Josiah Mazzaschi heard she had been injured in a motorcycle accident, he didn't sit on his hands. He got on the phone. Mazzaschi, the frontman of local indie-rock band Light FM , has organized a benefit concert, Jam for Laura Ann, on Sunday at the Echoplex to help Masura, a fellow musician and also a bartender at the downtown's Redwood Bar, defray some $15,000 in medical expenses. The 5 p.m. show ($12) features a heady cast of performers, including the Backwards Clock Society, featuring Billy Corgan along with Kerry [...]

After The Zookeepers sent me the 47-second song that I posted last week , it got me thinking about other songs in my music collection that were around one minute long or less. By this I meant actual, fully-formed songs - not interludes or any other type of quick album filler. A hasty perusal of my music collection yielded the following mix. So sit back and enjoy what is, most likely, the shortest collection of songs you will ever hear. As usual, my criteria for themed mixes is the following: fuck you, [...]
Last week I got a request for the entire show that I had recorded of The Pulsars playing at Silverlake Lounge . In exchange I got a .zip file full of rare Pulsars tracks including this one. Apparently this was one of the demos from the lost record that was recorded but got lost in their major label scuffle. When I saw them at the Silverlake Lounge they mentioned they were only playing songs from their first released record, I'm curious if they played anything from the unreleased record when they played [...]
