As the band's frontman Mark Foster told Spinner back in 2011 , the hit song is actually about a kid planning a school shooting and features the chorus, "you better run, better run, faster than my bullet."
Foster The People 's 2011 earworm "Pumped Up Kicks" has been pulled from KIIS-FM's rotation following the Newtown, CT shooting, according to TMZ .
