Purity Ring /// Grammy (Soulja Boy and Ester Dean COVER) Holy shit, this is unreal.
purity ring - grammy ( s0ulja boy cover) funnily enough, this is probably the best vocal megan james has done in awhile (since purity ring's cool music doesn't really challenge her range). but it's definitely a fun and timely cover for the week! http://feeds.feedburner.com/Wo ngiesMusicWorld
Our Indie Babe a couple months ago, White Blush, sent over a new project she was working on called prints_ and I think I’m somehow enjoying this even more. Riding over a heavy synth filled landscape, Carol’s voice floats like an angel on “Wish”. The calming effect over the thumping background, makes for such a delectable treat. 2nd track “Cut” is also other-worldly impressive with it’s combination of club-ready hip hop beat and waterfall-esque vocals. Purity Ring come right to mind after hearing this, but without all the broken down samples, and with more effort [...]

Purity Ring make lullabies for the club, drawing equally from airy 90s R&B, lush dream pop, & the powerful, bone-rattling immediacy of modern hip hop. Megan’s remarkable voice is at once ecstatic &... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.
PURITY RING have a new track to share with you: ‘Obedear.’ The vocals of the ballin’ Megan James are the driving force behind this haunting electro-pop track, ensconcing you in complex soundscape: what they describe as ‘future pop.’ It’s a very dense sound thanks to beatmaker, Corin Roddick. Dark and at times other-worldly, we hope this example of electro-pop really is the future because that means what’s up ahead isn’t as bleak as we first thought. Although that would require ignoring the predicament James describes… [...]
For you fans of the profoundly haunting, futuristic pop of Purity Ring , the band has a very exciting new release in "Obedear," the first new track off their debut album, Shrines . While you try to contain your giddiness make sure you're not doing anything on July 24th, because 4AD will be making Shrines rain. "Obedear" is an especially blippy and glitchy teaser of what's to come from the Edmonton duo, and a sad reminder of how long three months can be. A full track list is available after the [...]
Oh, man. The Knife, Dragonette, Dreams, move over. Purity Ring is now at the top of my future pop list. Their latest song, "Obedear," is the first single off their upcoming LP Shrines , which 4D will be releasing this summer. And while you're at it, check out the other two Shrines tracks already out there, "Belispeak" and You can download "Obedear" here on the Purity Ring website. The first track from the anticipated Purity Ring debut album 'Shrines' (due out on 24th July from 4AD) is the dreamy 'Obedear'. There's something in this song that reminds me of Grimes (another increasingly visible 4AD contender), perhaps it's the ethereal little-girl vocals, but whatever it is, I'm seriously liking the current wave of future pop sounds infiltrating the music scene. You can download 'Obedear' for free from the Purity Ring website: http://purityringsongs.com/ [...]
One of my mostly anticipated records of this summer is Purity Ring 's debut full-length Shrines . We still have to wait exactly 91 days (07/24)until it's out on 4AD , but we can now finally listen to a first officially unleashed track named «Obedear» by Megan James and Corin Roddick's future pop project. mp3 | Obedear __ Already posted: mp3 | Belispeak mp3 | [...]
You've already heard roughly seven seconds of this one on loop over at their website , and now Purity Ring has unleashed the first full track from their highly anticipated debut full-length Shrines , out this summer on 4AD . " Obedear " is the kind of thick, addictive future-pop gem that Purity Ring has displayed an uncanny knack for producing over the last year or so, as the duo remains a pretty close/natural distillation of just about everything we're into at the moment: [...]
Purity Ring @ MWTX After listening to the womping bass, I’d say Purity Ring should aim for a bid to steal Bass Drums of Death's name. During their performance the bass frequency rattled the metal roof of the warehouse that housed MWTX, as though a tornado was approaching. At times bridging hip hop rhythms (drawing comparisons to jj), Purity Ring also has elements of avant-rock similar to Fever Ray. Sharp synth notes were magnified over the bombarding bass, masking vocalist Megan James' soft and sheepish voice. James' singing was almost intelligible, serving more as complimentary instrument most notably on the song "Ungirthed." [...]
I rather like Purity Ring. They tick an awful lot of my boxes: dreamy, hip-hop influenced, female vocal pop. What more could a modern metrosexual ask for? They released the Ungirthed 73 around this time last year to much acclaim and followed it up in October with a split 73 (shared with Braids, on Fat Possum) that feature their song Belispeak. It's choppy and ever so slightly sinister while maintaining enough of a pop direction to make it very ear friendly. Megan James' vocals on all of their songs, although very produced, have an innocent quality to them. They're a [...]
A shame we have not featured Purity Ring sooner. Seeing as they are close compatriots of Born Gold (formally Gobble Gobble) it should be a surprise we have not made mention of Purity Ring's delightful beats sooner. We also hear rumblings from the web that they put on one hell of a live show. We wait patiently for a full length. MP3: Purity Ring: Ungirthed Mp3: Purity Ring: Belispeak
Any news from the Purity Ring camp is good news. Today they’ve dropped their third single, “Belispeak,” as well as news of an upcoming 7” with Braids on Fat Possum due out in October. Their most recent effort gives us a little more of the same, which is a very good thing. The reverberating vocals, pitched every which way, deliciously bouncy bass, and highly syncopated synths floating on top combine to form what’s been termed “future pop.” It'll make for a nice addition to your post-hurricane party. After wearing out one of the best 73 singles of 2011 so far , we've been waiting a minute for this one, and it doesn't disappoint. These guys are officially 3-for-3. Look for " Belispeak " on Purity Ring 's new split 73 with Braids , due in October on Fat Possum : mp3: Purity Ring :: Belispeak ________ previously : mp3: Purity Ring :: Lofticries [...]
Winnie's got your Friday song and it's an AMAZING new track from Purity Ring off the Ungirthed 73 available April 18. Seriously, this makes my heart flutter. It's perfect for right now. xo Purity Ring - Lofticries
Here's another one from Gobble Gobble 's Corin Roddick and Megan James. Compared to the heart-pounding A-side track, Ungirthed , this one pulses around Megan's soft and synthy vocals at a much slower rate—still just as beautiful and just as addictive. This is the B-side track to the upcoming Ungirthed 7" on Transparent . Available here in North America or here in the UK/EU the 18th. [MP3] Purity Ring - Lofticries [...]
