Jordan Jeffares, the mind behind Atlanta's Snowden , de-trapifies Purity Ring's "Fineshrine" into a calming acoustic version fit for a night by the fire. Get comfortable and stream the cover below. MP3: Snowden - "Fineshrine (Purity Ring Cover)"
It's not for fear of getting all but absolutely swept away by Blue Hawaii that we're back extolling the virtues of the Montréal-based duo comprising Agor Cowan and Raphaelle Standell-Preston, for to paraphrase Mykki Blanco everything they touch turns to motherfuckin' gold. And live, whether that aptly be at Club Motherfucker's 10th anniversary celebrations or at last weekend's The Great Escape , is when they really come into their own: they cut loose and positively lacerate the itself sublime Untogether LP of earlier on in the year, only to recompose it [...]

One of Purity Ring 's earliest tracks "Lofticries" still sounds baller two years later, bumped up to 14 and shaking the floor with its bass, so it makes sense for it to be remixed and sampled the internet over. Its most recent usage is being sampled on a new Angel Haze track, aptly-titled "Lofticries" , that borrows and loops the main refrain from the original and speeds it up a notch as Haze goes to town on the beat. If [...]
Purity Ring's "Lofticries" has still got legs, so we're not surprised that Angel Haze chose to use the track's unreal instrumental (and keep its title) for one of her two songs on XXL Magazine's annual Freshman Class mixtape. Angel's verbose, brutal lyrical brags surprisingly work well over those delicate synths (and added production by HiriiThe$kyGod ) - she sounds even more extraterrestrial than usual. Check it out. Just last year, Purity Ring captivated our eardrums with the band's debut glitch-pop album, Shrines. While many have tackled singles from that very project, whether [...]
The Brooklyn producer Dre Skull started out making spazzy DIY dance music, but he's since become an unlikely hitmaker in the universe of dancehall reggae. And his new single "First Time" goes a long way toward uniting both of his worlds, with Purity Ring singer Megan James singing a wide-eyed, lovestruck vocal over Dre Skull's sunny pummel, while Jamaican star Popcaan jumps on to huff his way through a dizzy verse. It's a supremely catchy song, and you can hear it below. Read More...

The creative coming together of a Lebanese national, a French producer, and a Chilean filmmaker in the unendingly artistic city of Montréal will perhaps inevitably make for an immediately singular project. And that is precisely what we are presented with in Mo7it Al-Mo7it – the very first recorded memoir of this, the trio's ongoing Jerusalem In My Heart endeavour. First formulated back in 2005 by the former, Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, this début compact disc incarnation is something of an exploratory, and with that highly expansive listening experience as the faraway exoticism of the Arab world meets [...]
Crywolf takes a sudden turn and deviates from his signature electronic styling by revealing the new collaboration with Ianborg, set to appear on CW's forthcoming [...]
The Creators Project went behind the scenes with one of our favorite electronic acts, Purity Ring. Nerd out and learn how Purity Ring creates one of the most dynamic live experiences in indie music today. Purity Ring | Ungirthed

2013 has started with some huge announcements, with even bigger releases, rivaling 2012 already with excitement about "what will come next?" Purity Ring releases this new track, in a very timely manner called Grammy. It was originally done by Soulja Boy & Ester Dean , but the electronic phenoms decided to take a crack at it. I'd say they hit this one out of the park. Along with the release of their rendition of Soulja Boy's Grammy , they had a few more 2013 announcements... Purity Ring announced an April North American [...]
It's quite unmistakably en vogue to go reworking contemporary R'n'B tracks at the minute and whether that be David Longstreth's Dirty Projectors giving Usher's heady Climax a mildly radical once-over or AlunaGeorge redoing Frank Ocean's Thinkin Bout You, the results can prove somewhat inconclusive. So when 4AD's Montréal duo Purity Ring took to Soulja Boy's Grammy in the wake of the awards of the same name, the jury was bound to take its sweet time about it. Of course elements of hip hop, post-R'n'B , and so forth all factored into the making of Megan James and [...]
Who out there could make Soulja Boy sound good? Leave it to Purity Ring who released a great version of "Grammy," and absolutely outdone the rapper on his own song. They keep the beat exactly how you would expect from the duo -- an electronic and synth-poppy sound that translates hip hop vibes so well. I'm also in love with the vocals of Megan James , you can always tell when it is her as she as this certain sound and range, but it's fantastic. Stream their version of "Grammy" below and download for free [...]

Purity Ring are apparently fans of Soulja Boy. They launched a new site today and sort of celebrated with the release of their cover of Soulja Boy's "Grammy" . It comes the day after the Grammy's. Doubt that was an accident. [mp3]: Purity Ring - Grammy (Soulja Boy Cover)

I thought that the biggest head-scratcher of the day would go to Beck and his enormous cover of " Sound And Vision " but I believe the honor goes to Purity Ring for their rendition of Soulja Boy's "Grammy" - bonus points for such a timely release. The one-off applies the band's ambient pop to Soulja's original and Megan James pantomimes his verses as naturally as possible, but it's hard not to get stuck on certain words like "trick" and "droptop" which sound so out of place. It works for the most part, though, and when it comes to pop [...]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =5SZ0gF7Fu0M Depending on your view, Purity Ring's album, Shrines , was either one of the best or one of the most disappointing albums of last year. There's no doubt of what the group are capable of, as singles like 'Ungirthed' or 'Lofticries' showcased, but, on the album, there was always the sense that they could have done more. One of the most interesting elements of Purity Ring since the release of Shrines has been how they've been adopted by the industry as a whole, with Danny Brown's rapping over Belispeak a particular highlight. [...]

Muy buena cover de Purity Ring para animar(aún más) el comienzo de semana. Purity Ring es un dúo que sonó mucho el año pasado, y parece que lejos de tomarse un descanso, siguen aportando joyas como la canción que hoy regalan:
