Back in 1961, electronics technician Ian Sommerville and experimental artist Brion Gysin created a stroboscopic flicker device they called the Dreammachine . Their Dreammachine was viewed with the eyes closed and affected alpha wave activity, allowing viewers to enter a hypnogogic state seeing increasingly exotic and complex shapes and patterns swirling on the backs of their eyelids. The most user-friendly site online just got better. Less than an hour ago, Google announced their All-Access music service at an I/O developer conference. A 30-day free trial will conclude with a $9.99 charge per month. For users who sign up during June, the monthly price will drop to $7.99. This new service comes on the coattails of licensing deals with major labels Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group. It is expected that this new service will compete directly with Spotify.
Earlier today, the newly added bassist for Nine Inch Nails, Eric Avery, announced via Facebook that he would be withdrawing from the band in advance of the upcoming reunion tour. Avery, who is largely known for his work with Jane's Addiction, cited a strong desire to stay in Los Angeles to work on film and musical endeavors. Nine Inch Nails has yet to reveal who will replace Avery as the band embarks on their 2013 tour, but for the time being the band will have to move on without the bassist.
