Tweet Buy the album on Amazon - Vinyl | MP3 | CD We Were Promised Jetpacks released their high-spirited debut "These Four Walls" in 2009 under their current label, Fat Cat Records, and quickly caught the attention of hordes of indie listeners with their first single, "Quiet Little Voices" . The Edinburgh, Scotland ensemble produce a sound that calls to mind [...]
These Scots cemented their reputation as a live powerhouse with their show at Bimbo's in SF on a rainy Friday night.

In early 2009, I blogged about my discovery of Scotland rockers We Were Promised Jetpacks , a thoroughly thrilling trio that rocked the pants off its songs like " Quiet Little Voices ", that were filled equally with fury and hooks. Well, here it is two years alter, and after a lot of touring, the band is releasing its second LP this week. It's called "In the Pit of the Stomach" and it's already getting raves across the pond: "It'll definitely drive your paws skyward." 7/10 NME "Recorded [...]
Tweet We're almost there. It's almost time, time for We Were Promised Jetpacks to drop the follow-up to their fiercly raucous debut album "These Four Walls". Monster songs like "Quiet Little Voices" and "It's Thunder And Lightning" seem to have been replaced with equally as gargantuan songs like "Act On Impulse" and this new song "Medicine", and I'm glad to see that not only have they kept their signature heavy-Indie-Rock sound but they're backing it up with some huge hooks [...]

Tweet Tomorrow's World disappointment; a common sickness amongst British twenty/thirty somethings. The TV show promised a future of AI, Robots and Jetpacks. Annoyingly Robots can't even hoover my living room and the only people allowed Jetpacks are surely the sort of nut jobs who really shouldn't be permitted to toy with rockets and human beings. To date we've not rebelled against the BBC. We've kept our disgruntlement simmering under the surface but it was surely only a matter of time before some standard [...]
Tweet My current job has one big thing going for it; They allow me to listen to my own music, all day, at volume. This works in both good and bad ways. It means I can listen to anything I want, whenever I want to which also mean no shitty radio stations with ads. But conversely it also opens me up to criticism, praise, and looks of just plain old "What the fuck are you listening to?". Just last night at work I was [...]
![[Discover] – We Were Promised Jetpacks – [Indie-Rock]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2428229_lg.jpg)
Fitting somewhere in between Frightened Rabbit and The Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpacks have gained a lot of praise and respect in the last couple of years. Having been discovered after Fat Cat Records were checking out some of the friends of Frightened Rabbit on MySpace, they've since gone on to support Frightened Rabbit, release their debut album ("These Four Walls") and an EP, appear at many a festival and do their own tour of the U.K. and the U.S., and that's just in the last 9 months. Their sound can be compared to Frightened Rabbit and [...]

We Were Promised Jetpacks made what has become probably my favourite record of 2009 in "These Four Walls" (yes I know I should do a full review), and to finish the year they are releasing a double A-side "It's Thunder and It's Lightning"/ "Ships With Holes Will Sink" which are two of my favourites off a consistently fantastic album. In a year that has been dominated by the resurgence of folk and synth-pop, it is always good to have such undeniably talented indie rockers reminding us of quite how good they can be. It's Thunder [...]
Wow that's a tough question. Working part time in a record shop there's just way too much to choose from. If I absolutely had to pick one, it would be "Quiet little voices" by We Were Promised Jetpacks. The chorus is anthemic enough, but it's the rawness of the sound and the energy that keeps me coming back for more. Definitely worth a listen, especially on their vinyl release, if you can get it.

Scottish independent music is booming at the minute, or so I'm told. Independently that is. It's also full of angst and sadness with bands like The Twilight Sad and Frightened Rabbit being the leading lights. But it's another band who has taken my interest of late. We Were Promised Jetpacks seem to do the angst alright, but not in your teeny emo way, they do it alongside building guitars, anthemic chorus's with dare I use a made up word here, chant-ability? I hate using angst actually, [...]

Another video-based post here. We were sent the debut album, THESE FOUR WALLS , by the Recommender-flavoured tasty treats that are WE WERE PROMISED JETPACKS . (I know we keep saying it, but that is quite simply the best name for a band for fucking ages!!!) Why do we love them so much? Well, because it's been so long since we've had a band that have allowed the music to do ALL the talking. [...]
If someone came up to you and handed you a record by a band called "We Were Promised Jetpacks" you would most likely assume it was a bad emo band and not a brilliant new band from Glasgow right? After, my assumptions on the name made me look like a fool I was able to [...]
If this Hype Device were a Rocky movie, then it would feature Clubber Lang / Mr. T , but (sadly) it does not. We do have bands from Scotland, England, California, and New Jersey, though. Actually, there are TWO from New Jersey. That's gotta count for something, right? No? On with the show. Check out the Radio Exile mp3 Hype Device III "after the jump" Here are five bands who who deserve some hype. So [...]
I blogged last month about We Were Promised Jetpacks and included a live version (from a club gig) of their forthcoming single "Quiet Little Voices". Well, the original video for the single (out May 4th) is out and it's below - We Were Promised Jetpacks full length CD "These Four Walls" comes out in June. Killer song - radiant energy.

Artist: We Were Promised Jetpacks Single: Quiet Little Voices Label: FatCat Records Release Date: 04/05/09 Link: www.myspace.com/wewerepromised jetpacks Words by: Jack Phillips Part of that already impressive clique of Scottish bands, Edinburgh's We Were Promised Jetpacks add the heavier frontier to Frightened Rabbit and Twilight Sad's already sturdy base. We Were Promised Jetpacks' new single 'Quiet Little Voices' isn't all bluster though, it has a melody and chorus that make you knees tremble, and it sounds huge. I [...]

Words: Tim Boddy Someone at Fat Cat records has got supremely astute musical taste buds. The Brighton based company continue to find the most innovative, bright and darn right excellent artists around; We Were Promised Jetpacks being no exception, who were signed late last year. Yet another Scottish based band, the foursome share a similar sound to heavily-lauded-and-rightly-so compatriots Frightened Rabb it, who they also toured with recently. Future single Quiet Little Voices has simply got 'Indie Anthem' written all over it, released May 4th. A gorgeous track soaked [...]

Thanks to the One Little Indian PR team in the UK, I've learned about a blisteringly cool band from Edinburgh, Scotland called We Were Promised Jetpacks (great name, that). Here's the fab rockin' single out in May - track called Quiet Little Voices . Smokin' good rock for any fans of Arctic Monkeys, Chameleons UK, early Jam and more... More Information: "We Were Promised Jetpacks' 'Quiet Little Voices' represents the lead-up to a debut album that is already highly touted, several months before release. The [...]
The South x Southwest Festival's musical party burst into existence in Austin, Texas last week and the annual buzz machine has been super busy amongst our fellow bloggers.
