"Without You My Life Would be Boring" is one of the songs on Shaking The Habitual that makes the album " rewarding, immediate experience ." It's challenging without being repulsive, rewarding and captivating all at the same time and in such a way that you'd never use such banal adjectives to describe the experience. Stream it below, just because you never could have enough reasons to listen to The Knife . Shaking The Habitual is out today. Read more articles like " The Knife - Without You [...]

To call James Blake 's second LP "greatly anticipated" may be a bit of an overstatement, but only because it's been hardly two months that we've even known that a new album would be available some time this year. Despite the short time to process the news, fans certainly were eager to hear what the angelically voiced young songwriter would do. To their delight, the album's first single, "Retrograde," took a rather forward looking view on sounds of the romantic 802s (do I hear a trace of Talk Talk's "It's My Life"?) and 602s soul, as filtered through electronic [...]

It's been seven years since The Knife last emerged with an album of which to moan and groan, and Silent Shout was then of course met with much wax lyrical. This week, they return with its lamentably belated follow-up in the altogether less effable form of Shaking The Habitual which resides deep within the grooves of an altogether more tangible wax (or rather black vinyl plastic) – Deep Cuts again made by Karin Dreijer Andersson and brother Olof Dreijer's Rabid Records imprint. Though to contextualise the timeframe across which they've now been [...]

E agradecemos. [...]
Shaking The Habitual is one of the most involving albums we've heard in some time, and I've having a hard time processing it and getting used to the dissociative experiences it tends to induce. Thankfully, producer Pursuit Grooves has taken at least one of the songs, "A Tooth For An Eye," and nailed thing down some four on the floor bass. Wouldn't it be great to hear The Knife in a nightclub? Or would it be too much? Definitely worth a shot at least. Check it out for yourself below. [...]

As we all continue to attempt to process The Knife 's uncompromising, incendiary, and altogether overwhelming new record , shapeshifting producer Pursuit Grooves - who just dropped a fairly massive album of her own - unveils her " A Tooth For An Eye " remix, and it's a throbbing, repetitive, bass-heavy club rework that's a touch subtler than the original, but just as powerful. Works nicely with those ATFAE video gifs, too. This one is available next week alongside a rumbling remix by [...]
On "Raging Lung," a little more than halfway through the Knife's gargantuan new album Shaking The Habitual , a few familiar words show up: "What a difference, what a difference a little difference would make." Those words are familiar because Guy Picciotto groaned them on Fugazi's "Blueprint," a track from Repeater , my favorite album ever. With apologies to the little kid rocking the bootleg T-shirt in the Matthew McConaughey arthouse movie Mud , this is the most unexpected Fugazi reference I've come across lately. It's unexpected because the Knife have spent an entire career building a [...]
