Sunset Rubdown [ MySpace ] just debuted the great new video for "Dragon's Lair" at Pitchfork TV today. They could have debuted it here, but they weren't sure if giving an exclusive to us would make sense. (That's totally not true at all...I'm just talking shiiizzzzz.) Either way, this clip = mind- bottling . Yeah, I went there. Check it out. Above. Duh. Dragonslayer is out now on Jagjaguwar . Check out another track from the album "after the [...]

So I know this isn't exactly timely for the end of 2009, but after the jump, I'll rank and briefly discuss my Top 5 alubms from 2009; mostly because my list is almost completely different from BVaz's. I only am doing five because I feel like after my top five, things get muddled. Who is 6? Who is 10? Woods? Real Estate? Atlas Sound? Phoenix?! Are those albums even worth of a top 10 of the year? Not sure! The five I have listed here are all fantastic, though. One thing is for certain - loved me some chill albums this year. [...]

Sunset Rubdown Random Spirit Lover (Jagjaguwar, 2007) I didn't take the time to write up a blurb about this amazing album, but my iTunes library on our laptop says that I have played the songs from Random Spirit Lover more than any of the other 20,000+. That counts for something right? Oh, and "For The Pier (And Dead Shimmering)" is one of my favourite songs of all time. That's two things. -Thistle

I have been putting off writing a review for Sunset Rubdown's Dragonslayer for a multitude of reasons. As soon as I finish writing this review I will feel like the experience of the album is over Sunset Rubdown offerings take a while to digest I made up my mind 5 minutes ago whether I like this album more than SR's last offering Random Spirit Lover (RSL) I find it odd that I hate writing reviews for my favorite band [...]
Sunset Rubdown began as a solo project for Wolf Parade 's Spencer Krug but quickly evolved into a full band . The music veers from carnival-esque grandeur to pin-drop-quiet beauty. They are currently touring in support of their newest album, Dragonslayer . Tom Child interviews multi-instrumentalist Michael Doerksen.
Sunset Rubdown - You Go On Ahead There are no side projects with Spencer Krug; he's just prolific. The forthcoming Dragonslayer will be the eighth album he has been involed with in four years and, he claims, the most honest. It's also a little less experimental than the likes of Random Spirit Lover, making it easily accessible and primed for success in a year full of dynamic, well-recevied indie albums. This one is my favourite from the new album, released through Jagjaguar on July 6th - but you can stream the album now over at [...]

I know BVaz scoffs whenever I say this, but I think Sunset Rubdown's last album, Random Spirit Lover is better than Wolf Parade's latest, At Mount Zoomer . Wolf Parade rocks it out more, and Sunset Rubdown certainly is way more out there, but they are also more diverse and more furious than anything I have heard Wolf Parade do. Don't get me wrong, they are both in the upper crust, but I think Sunset Rubdown's latest is simply a little better. As for the live show, I was blown away by [...]
