Before you ask.. yup, I watched a whole season (or 2..) of Degrassi, what other rap blawgs out there are doing that? I just though this was kind of meta, a rapper acting while wearing a t-shirt of another rapper. I've been dying to get an excuse to use this, so I'm posting this as some sort of commemoration of the release of Take Care this week. As for the 700k selling Take Care ? I'm not afraid to confess that I enjoy the album.

It takes a lot to get my lazy ass out of the house. A DJ Premier set and free french fries constitutes a lot. Re:Generation is a documentary in which five DJs collaborate with artists well outside their respective genres. DJ Premier worked with Nas on a song with the Berklee School of Music Orchestra, Pretty Lights worked with Leann Rimes and Ralph Stanley, the Crystal Method worked with Martha Reeves on an R&B song, and Mark Ronson went to New Orleans to record a jazz song with the Dap Kings, Trombone Shorty, Erykah Badu, and [...]

New York Comic Con! Baby Boba Fett with a tiny red lightsaber! Unabashed anime love! Sexy Asian Mario with big boobs! Hispanic Captain America! Comic Con, where we nerds come to roost! I wandered the floor on Thursday and Friday drinking in the sights and sounds and playing video games. I watched a demo of Max Payne 3 , which mixes the archetypal washed up alcoholic cop story with John Woo gunfights. Picture Max flying through the air in [...]
LOLOLOL, what other platinum selling rapper hops out of a trunk to start his performance, and then goes on airlift? Only this guy nicknamed Ye. Below, There are even more LOLs to be had at Kanye forcing a re-do during the opening of All Of The Lights when the (majority white) crowd didn't call and respond to the "MJ Gone.." line loud enough. A Rest In Peace shout-out to Black Eyed Peas was totally normal, too. From the reviews ACL sounded like a swell job to wrap up the tour supporting My [...]

The actor must be diligently at work towards achieving a coveted Hood Pass because he decided to recite The Ten Crack Commandments . I tried really hard to listen but his flaring nostrils were a huge distraction. Anyway, it's not like I need a reminder on what the commandments are, as I have them tat'd on the belly. On a fun personal note: I am currently messing up like 4 of the commandments in my [...]
Not trying to write the 'Rappers React to X' post, but Twitter had some jokes tonight. The United States killed Osama bin Laden today btw. Obama about to tell niggas he just switched to #Geico . less than a minute ago via ÜberSocial Favorite Retweet Reply hex hawking hexmurda [...]

Funkmaster Flex went on Hot 97 two weeks ago to counter "rumors" ( a police report ) that his coworker Mister Cee was caught receiving oral sex from a man in the West Village (not that there's anything wrong with that). Then, Flex implied that two employees from rival station Power 105.1 are gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) and threatened to reveal their identities. But our favorite part was that Flex had "Nino" work the signature Funkmaster Flex bomb during his rant. If dropping the bomb for Flex sounds like your dream job, Metal [...]

The result is.. well, let's just say I haven't laughed this hysterically in a while. I really hope Timbaland reaches out to dude, to make meme worthy music. Note: My mom sent me this video, thanks Mom! (she won't see this, I make sure ML is blocked on her home network)

G-Side @ The Spin Loft SXSW Music 2011 was such a craze that I'm still recovering from pure exhaustion, combine that with a mean head cold I caught, and I've been slumbering like a hibernating bear. Fear not though, the grand ol recap should be hitting your face in the next few days. In the meantime, check out the instagram photos I snapped, and you may have missed from the ML twitter feed . Check the pictures after the jump. [...]

Penguin Prison Sooo I just survived my first day of SXSW Music... barely. As I write this, all I can think about are my aching feet. Thank God I brought some comfortable sneakers, because my feet are really killing me and I'm just starting. Anyway, the day started off with me getting into town, getting some amazing goat burger from a food truck called the Giggling Goat. So hip-hop. Oh, and I refuse to try BBQ. Linked up with the homie Jeff Weiss aka Hannibal Moncrief , who I'm sharing quarters with. Then [...]

Yeah, you read that title right, ML had to cut the procrastination & curb the lallygagging, and to finally go to the madness that is SXSW. About the title, it does say Hip-Hopish, but we touche the whole spectrum in our picks. If you read this blawg, chances are you subscribe to some of our music tastes, so here are some of our picks from the official showcases (note: we didn't pick things that would jam up your whole schedule or overlap, because a big part of SXSW is finding and discovering new music on your own...and having [...]

While you had your finest L.L. Bean camping gear setup in a line at the mall waiting to pickup the iPad 2, a bunch of hip hop names joined in the act, minus the camping & lines part, of course. The one exception seemed to be Freeway, who mingled (and videotaped) his experience standing in line with all the non-rapping folk at a Philadelphia mall. Big Sean Me n @ djmobeatz Just copped the I-pad 2!!! On yo dumbass! Lol. Boi. #FFOE ! [...]

The hierarchy of the online rap community goes like this: 1. Photoshoppers 2. Rap bloggers 3. People who leave comments on old school rap videos on YouTube Props to Kuci06 , HHReloaded , Talyban , and wilde who have been trading Young Jeezy-themed movie posters in a legendary thread on the ProjectCOVO.com forums . Many more after the break.

So, this is kind of a random/last minute thing, but ML is teaming up with Phil Dzikiy (who our hardcore readers may recall from his chilling thoughts on our 'Trapped in the Closet' reviews ) to live blog The Amazing Race 18 ALL SEASON LONG (unless we get our TVs stolen repossessed). You might find yourself asking, "what the hell is this about?". Well, let me explain, as I descend into old man age demographics, I have become fond of CBS' programming including the globe trotting The Amazing Race. This past fall, The [...]

The Love Song Machine is a web app that lets you compose a song using eight notes. Then it plays your song. IN THE REAL WORLD. After you make your song, you can watch a live stream of it playing on in their Rhode Island office. Technical explanation : The bells are played by a series of solenoids, which are controlled by an Arduino micro-controller. The notes that you submit are processed on our web servers and then sent to the Arduino, while we load up live video and audio so that you [...]

Train! Fight! Die?! DJA and Dirty South Joe have distilled the essence of motivation and physical and mental exertion into musical form. The product of their labor is Heaven 2 Hell , their second 80s action soundtrack mix. As with any action sequel, the stakes are higher and the danger level has doubled (maybe even tripled). Put this on and get inspired. Find the track list after the break and don't forget about part one . Keep it locked for Blood Bros 3! via Mad Decent
I never asked for anything except a purple light saber. George said, "Well, light sabers are either red or green." I said, "Yeah, but I would like a purple one." - Samuel L. Jackson
