I'm almost speechless at this , found via Blissblog (who's also almost speechless - unless he's saving his ire for a paid ranting). Almost. Actually, that's a lie. I'm nowhere near speechless. I'm full of words. I'm suddenly thick with them; they are stuffing into my skull and more are coming. This has made me really angry. That face when David Tennant's Doctor goes: 'What?!!? What?!!?' over and over again. Yeah, that face. I [...]

The inevitable remix of the article at Freq There’s buckets of finely congealed empathy here, beautifully presented. Front And Follow is an unusual, old-fashioned label, not quite made for these times . And thank God for that. This box set is a collection of 9 EPs from a host of incredible artists, all working within the confines of some strange call & response routine* which sees invited artists submit audio clips into a central pot, which is [...]
[RUMOUR] New album will stream in full tonight on iTunes! This. Rules. S

This second emerging track from Beady Eye's June album is arguably better than the first strong song, "Flick of the Finger". This song also has horns, with an interesting groove underneath. Meanwhile Liam Gallagher is doing his best to fan the flames, stating he'll retire if this album doesn't do well. Based on these first two tracks, I don't think that will be a concern. He also remarked on a photo of brother Noel hugging Blur's Damon Albarn, saying that pic marks "the end of Britpop." By Bruce Rave Beady Eye – [...]

GRIMES (real name: Claire Boucher ), ‘urban faery’ and Canadian experimental electronic artist, is the powerhouse behind 'Visions' (one of last year’s most acclaimed albums). In addition to her music, she maintains a popular blog on Tumblr . There, she catalogues gifs of cute animals and her love of Game of Thrones (like any good Tumblogger), but there are also posts dedicated to her other interests: pop music, fashion, culture and feminism. These blogs offer an earnest, enduring perspective of what it’s like to be a female artist in [...]

After his last column on why he dislikes guests lists so much proved to be so popular, we asked former Bastions drummer, Daniel Garrod , if there was anything else he fancied getting off his chest/putting in the firing line. We didn't expect him to turn his attention to Record Store Day , but hey, here's his column... Two years ago, almost to the day, I got a call from my then-guitarist who sounded like he was going to stab me in the throat... [...]
Hi, friends. This year I'm taking a slightly different approach to the State Of The Blog Address. Gone are the formalities (the Photoshopped pictures of VIPs, the interruptions for self-aggrandizing applause breaks, etc.) and getting right down to specifics. This is 2013. It's time for a change, and in the words of the immortal Sam [...]

As long-time readers will know, we like to throw the doors to Thrash Hits open every now and again to let musicians have a bit of a shout and rant about something that's got on their tits. We've had Rich from Xerath on political lyrics, Dale from Malefice discuss metal fans' distrust of success, and Swanny from Monuments on bourgeois concepts regarding spiritual and social fulfilment. The latest in this line of infamany is Daniel Garrod , formerly the drummer of Bastions , who wants to get something off his chest on the subject of freeloading guestlisters. Take it [...]

If there's one constant in the world these days, it's the music website coverage of rants by artists like Azealia Banks, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and the like. And just as those reports remain in our news rotation, so do the inevitable comments from annoyed readers. There's a consistent outcry from some folks asking why we (and other sites) are covering these "stories" and giving diva-like artists the time of a day for something other than their actual music. My first reaction to these comments is that the rants, particularly the ones we cover, are indeed news-worthy. In [...]

Kanye West went on another rant last night, this time in Amsterdam. I know what you're thinking, "not again". So how did Yeezy keep things fresh? Well, he delivered it as a freestyle rap. Like his rants in Paris and London , Kanye rambled on about brands, corporations and being obsessed with money. Some commentator s are saying the schtick is leading up to a possible new album called Black American Psycho . Kanye also recently told a French crowd that he has new material [...]
I was having a discussion with my co-workers on Tuesday about the lunatic known as Morrissey. Someone asked if I'd heard about the public ultimatum issued to Jimmy Kimmel before appearing on his show. Apparently the dope threatened to back out of his agreement to be the musical guest on an episode if the cast [...]
Ad-libbing a freestyle/slam poetry piece/PSA/rant in the middle of "Clique" in front of hungry European fans is becoming habitual for Kanye West. Following multiple tantrums in London, Yeezy followed up [...] The post A N*gga Ranting In Paris: Kanye Promises New Material In The Coming Months appeared first on The Smoking Section .

DISCLAIMER: The following brief rant was submitted by a reader and close friend on the topic of neon clothing's role in EDM as a genre and culture. Be open minded and give it a read below in this new series entitled "Societal Observations from a Peanut Butter and Jams Fan" I know I’ve touched upon this topic before, but because I saw this problem metastasize at an EDM event recently, I feel the need to address it one more time. ATTENTION : [...]
Everybody watches the Academy Awards, right? Except for me, of course, because I'll be stuck at work AGAIN, just like I am on every other Sunday of the year. I missed the Super Bowl last month. I missed the Grammy's (not that I cared, but it's the principle of the thing!), I'm going to miss [...]
Oh, Kanye . Your crazy antics never cease to entertain us, but you might want to ease off on the rants. In his latest rant, Kanye West went on about the Grammys, Obama, capitalism, his YOLO way of living, and - gasp - how he "ain't fuckin' with that 'Suit & Tie'" (amongst many, many other things) at the first of two shows in London last night. Anyone else wondering why this jab at Jay-Z 's latest venture was necessary at all? Maybe this means that, hopefully, he'll be releasing part two to "Big Brother." Watch [...]

Follow @AnthonyDeVito In January, I went to the Time Warner Cable customer service center in Brooklyn. My cable modem had finally given up the ghost, so I brought it in to exchange it for a new model. While waiting on line, I started chatting with the woman ahead of me. We were talking about why we were there, and, both being New Yorkers, the conversation quickly turned into a mutual complainfest. That’s how we break the ice with strangers, the way other people might talk about the weather, sports or the latest mass shooting. [...]
Through harmonies and dashing melodies, The Futureheads' are on a whole other level of musical greatness. With whimsical hymns ranging from upbeat Hounds of Love to their brilliant a cappella version of Meantime, The Futureheads never fail to be innovative and unique. For a decade now we have loved this band, so when The Futureheads' Ross Millard graciously took the time to answer some questions for AMBY, our excitement was through the roof. AMBY: Hey Ross, thanks for doing this interview- huge fans! To begin, what's the band been up to [...]
Every time I talk to my sister it seems like I'm asking her for advice. Specifically, I ask what I should blog about today. And, invariably, her answer is always the same: "Dinosaurs." That's usually the point at which I cease communicating with her for the day. She has not once given me a topic [...]

Yesterday, we saw some great photos of Kanye West rockin' a straitjacket and various wintry masks during his performance in Abu Dhabi. And now, it's time to watch some surprisingly decent fan-shot footage of the concert. This includes a clip of his opening sequence featuring Foreigner's "Cold as Ice", which bleeds into Yeezy's " Cold " and gives way to a medley of hits including "Can't Tell Me Nothing". There's also an extensive Auto-Tune rant over "Say You Will" and some footage of his " Clique " verse. Come for the outfits, stay for the rants, I always [...]
If you're a frequent visitor this blog (and if you're not, why not?) then you've probably read my rave review for Fish Story , a 2010 Japanese film about a punk rock song that saves the world (really). For those of you who haven't read that review, you can do so here . You can also download the said song (and some other tracks from the film) in that post. Fish Story was not available in any format in the US when I wrote that post. I found out about the film thanks [...]
