I just got a great review in one of Sweden's bigges morning papers, and the rest of the world is not late on following the trend. TOANWTS is appointed the prestigious title of " Album of the Month " on renowned music blog Bluesbunny " Perhaps her most interesting artistic choice however is the sound of the album this time around. Country flavoured sonic touches abound on many of the songs thus giving the album an underlying focus and, [...]

Tweet vaso link As of today, our blog is three years old. We've grown from just Dave and I writing about whatever we wanted (and probably should have accumulated more DMCA notices for) into a team of ten writers, each with different tastes and backgrounds. And even though we've grown in size and scope and posting frequency, there are some things that haven't changed since we started. We continue to want to provide our readers with music that we believe [...]
" Talvik's gentle acoustic songs make up for any loss of sonic power and rhythmic force with a focus on the sweetly nuanced basics: endearing melodies and tasteful arrangements" Direct Current Music blog has written a review of my new album "The Owls Are Not What They Seem". Read it all here !

Interview with me on Radio, Live Transmission Radio, Live Transmission the main source of news for Savannah College Students just posted a little interview with me on their site. Read it here!
I first heard about Pitchfork.com from my friend Daniel back in 2005. My musical tastes had begun to expand in 2002 when my brother Kyle compelled me to listen to Radiohead's "Amenesiac" and Beck's "Sea Change." By 2005, a large part of my identity came from the music I listed to and, more importantly, the fact that not a lot of other people listened to the same music. Thus, Pitchfork was the perfect website for someone like me who used music to feel cooler than other people. It told me what to listen to. [...]

So today I received the official invite to SxSW 2012! I already have a couple of gigs lined up but will soon update my schedule with the official showcase as well. See you at southby!!!

Listening to her music, an otherworldly edge, surprising twists and powerful, haunting vocals make her much more than just another pretty folk-pop-acoustic performer. In other words, in Scandinavian music terms that Americans can understand, she's no ABBA retread and not quite the enigmatic eccentric of Bjork , but carving her own unique and welcome niche in the music world. Atlanta Retro writes about my music, my upcoming show at the Drunken Unicorn [...]

As most of my friends in Sweden go to bed at midnight almost all activity on fb comes to a stall at 6pm my time. So lately I've been hanging out on iRV2 instead. There's always things going on there. Like how about this thread "Possibly diet coke exploding in camper?". There's a lot to learn if you're new to RVing too. I read a lot about tires and batteries these days. A while ago we actually crafted insulation for our vents after I read about it on the forum. Comes in handy now that it's cold [...]
Miserable is the first adjective which comes to mind in describing today. The rain is constant, and the wind is strong enough to blow the bird feeders back and forth, even the heaviest, the squirrel buster feeder, is swaying. Gracie hasn't been outside since last night. She never even bothered to stick her head out the door as the rain is loud enough for her to know it's pouring. Just in case she needs to rush, I've left the back door open. My den is dark. I had the light on earlier when I was reading the papers [...]

The first book I have read from my New Year reading list is Never Eat Shredded Wheat , which is all about the geography of the UK. As the author described various features, like oxbow lakes, moraines, cliffs and so on, I looked them up on Google Maps (because aerial photography is great). So here are some screenshots of fantastic British landscapes from Google Maps - I didn't keep a record of where these all are, but if you want to guess, leave a comment.
In the shadow of Camden's trendiest club, KoKo, lies the Purple Turtle. It is one of these non-assuming London venues (which I've discovered are always the best) with a small sign and a very insistent door man. It's the first Thursday in Januaryand the Purple Turtle is packed. The crowd is filled with an unusual mix of Ca... Read more..

Vienna Ditto are a 3 piece self described Voodoo Sci-Fi Blues band from Reading, Oxford and London, comprising Hatty Taylor on vocals, Nigel Firth on guitar and Laptop, Scott Lawrence on Drums and Laptop. They started off writing wacky little tunes on a laptop, quite badly. This was largely on Nigel's boat but also in Hatty's bedroom, with duvets and stuff hanging on the walls to try make it sound all professional. The first tune was called 'Long Way Down'. [via last.fm] The group has returned with a stunning single release officially coming out on [...]

© Joel Nigel Coleman This article from the New York Times scratches me where I itch. The author, Pico Iyer, explores our need for quiet and rest and the difficult task it is to find that in today's world. I have been contemplating quiet time lately, craving time away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. I'm not even busy, but this break from school makes me realize how much I need to make time to rest. - Joel Pico Iyer - "The Joy [...]
My big New Year Ambition this year is to read - specifically, read the long list of books below. I've been keeping this list for years, and never really making headway into reading the books. I tend to get distracted by books in shops, libraries and end up reading them instead (in itself, no bad thing). But this year, I'm reserving 2012 to read these books - and hopefully finding most of them in libraries too.
