With The Mars Volta reconvened and readied for the touring of a new LP, and At The Drive-In reformed needless to say Cedric Bixler-Zavala's being kept as busy as that wonderfully ridiculous barnet of his is bananas. He's also in on this one: the sort of supergroup to come together after a SPAR cider too many in some Butlins chalet come sunrise, Anywhere also comprises legendary Minutemen bass monger Mike Watt and onetime Sleepy Sun-shine Rachel Fannan although to further dislodge Bixler-Zavala from focal point, we thrust some inquisitions over in the direction of fellow project progenitor [...]
To celebrate Record Store Day, Regina Spector released a limited edition 7” vinyl single featuring “The Prayer of Francois Villon (Molitva)” and “Old Jacket (Stariy Pidjak). Listen below:

Last Record Store Day release; promise. Vagrant's offering came from woozy shoegaze types School of Seven Bells who had a stab at Siouxsie and the Banshees' Kiss Them For Me, stab being the operative word: Alejandra Deheza and Benjamin Curtis hack away the guitars, instead opting for a cut-and-thrust industrial approach that's irrefutably devastating. Unerring on the searing melody of the original take yet unmistakably SVIIB in overall aesthetic, it achieves – at least subjectively – the essential objective of any cover and is consequently a pretty consummate recording. Another new track from Beach House has hit the net following us getting to enjoy another just last week, " Lazuli ". My Blog Cliché points towards a little number called "Equal Mind" which was released along with "Lazuli" for Record Store Day. It won't feature on the band's forthcoming follow up to 2010's Teen Dream , Bloom which drops on the 14th of May. Check out "Equal Mind" below and look out for more Beach House hitting the net in the lead up to the new LP.
Wow. Even live "KROKODIL" didn't have this much bite. Here are the two new sides of Annie Clark: the quick bite of "KROKODIL" and the slow crunch of "Grot." Sounds like she's been letting her Our Band Could Be Your Life side out. To see a small indicator of this direction, check out her cover [...]
![[Listen] Sigur Rós - "Kvistur"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4219202_lg.jpg)
The good vibes just keep on rolling after a weekend of vinyl lovers the world over comes to a close. Sigur Rós were another band to put out a limited run for Record Store Day and they chose to put out "Ekki Múkk" which came nicely packaged with an featured an unheard track by the name of, "Kvistur". A beautiful track from a beautiful band and on a plus note, "Kvistur" won't feature on their upcoming release in May, Valtari . Check it out below.

If Beach House's donation to last weekend's largely hugely successful Record Store Day, Lazuli represented a slight detour from their sumptuous stargaze soundtracking then its flipside, Equal Mind sees the duo back on the tracks of soaring melodrama: Alex Scally's guitars scale such great heights, whilst Victoria Legrand chimes: "There is no way you could know/ These waves they come and they go" over appositely cyclical washes of oneiric majesty. Although not to feature on forthcoming fourth Bloom , you can't help but sense that had Equal Mind featured as the A-side then that [...]

Another Record Store Day release that many were hankering for was a 7" from Annie Clark aka St. Vincent . On that 7" were two brand new tracks from the guitar whiz and boy are they good. The tracks are dirty, fuzzy monsters that you'll just keep on going back to again and again for more listens. Check out "Krokodil" and "Grot" below. "Krokodil" "Grot"

Last week we got to preview the awesome sounding release from Feist and Mastodon that they put out for Record Store Day. Speaking of, we hope you had an awesome day on Saturday and managed to get everything you wanted! As well as that release with Feist , Mastodon offered up a cover of The Flaming Lips ' 1999 track "A Spoonful Weighs A Ton". Of course as with most things on tumblr that have a fan base, Mastodon have a Fuck Yeah site who, following RSD, posted up the track which [...]
Check out Feistodon with both Feist and Mastodon covering each other for a split 73 exclusive for Record Store Day. Also, Mastodon's amazing cover of Flaming Lips' "A Spoonful Weighs a Ton" below.

If you're a record collector like me, chances are you recently visited your local vinyl merchant for Record Store Day and walked away with a few limited-edition gems. I went to Amoeba Records in San Francisco, and for the first year ever I nearly walked away with most of the loot I'd eyed up. The only record that I'd wanted and didn't find was the Gorillaz feat. James Murphy and Andre 3000 single. However, I'd did score the Arcade Fire 123 single, the Beach House 73 single, all of the various Flaming Lips memorabilia, the Dale Earnhardt EP, the Animal [...]

Since it's inception in 2008, Record Store Day has become a landmark event with support from independent record stores worldwide. This year's event is bigger than ever with a huge amount of exclusive vinyl available today only from the likes of Matthew Dear , Battles , Gerry Read , The Future Sound of London and much more. We'll be hitting Rub a Dub in Glasgow where Joy Orbison will be guesting and here's a wee taster or some of the goodies that we'll be [...]

George Jones - I Wanta Sing I found this gem in the basement of In Your Ear Records in Warren, RI while helping set up for Record Store Day tomorrow. As if you don't already know, George Jones' 1977 album, I Wanta Sing , features the best cover art in the history of the long playing record album. I found a lot of nice records down there that will be going out specially for Record Store Day tomorrow, including some really desirable records by James Brown, [...]
I'm seconds away from leaving for Coachella, but I wanted to let you know that you can stream the Dirty Projector's Record Store Day song "You Against the Larger World" over at Listen Before You Buy. That gives way to a fun reminder that Record Store Day is tomorrow! Lots of fun to be had [...]
This Saturday marks the 5th annual celebration of record stores (yes, they still exist, sort of, in some places of the world) with special-edition releases, giveaways, in-store appearances,... Support indie media! Read the rest at thephoenix.com . . .

Tomorrow is the fifth Record Store Day . Having experienced all of them and twoRSD Black Fridays as well, I consider myself something of an RSD professionalat this point. Here are the seventips to ensure you have the best time possible on the greatest day of the year. 1.) Record Store Day Isn’t About You [...]

Doubtless Record Store Day , as with any no; absolutely every institutionalised day of celebration, has its pros and cons. Its primary pro I would contend, what with black wax now rendered omnipresent, clamoured for and consequently a touch extortionate (another debate for another time further from Friday perhaps), stems from its capacity to re-inform and remind – or alternatively inform and educate – the glaringly obvious: that every vinyl is, as 88 Fingers Louie would put it, a "two-faced bastard". There's a wealth of possibility within the split 7" concept that's largely been neglected over the past little [...]
