Oh my good god. Was sent this track earlier today and I'm blown away. Jesse Cooper aka Mt. Eden likes to keep a relatively low profile and for good reason. He's no doubt waiting until he has a complete arsenal of dubstep tracks to unleash onto the world. Unlike a lot of the emerging dubstep artists, Mt. Fat Freddys Drop are a reggae/dub/nu-soul group from New Zealand and considered heroes in their homeland - across the world they sell out huge venues with their soothing songs. The Reggae genre is a strange one for me - I occasionally hear the odd pirate reggae radio station when I'm in the car but apart from that I have no real interest in the modern day genre. Dub Pistols are gearing up to release their new album titled Rum & Coke and the first official track to surface is Back To Daylight. The song features Ashley Slater whose voice provides some easy listening goodness. Can't wait to hear this in the open air warmth (fingers crossed) of a festival - surely the DP trumpets and saxophones will make themselves known on this song if performed live. Absolutely classic dubstep track from Caspa. It's not as rowdy as some of the dubstep that's coming out at the moment but the gentle bassline and oriental sample is the perfect combination. Someone needs to create a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon mashup video with this track in the background. This kind of track demonstrates how versatile he is as an artist and pushes the genre to new heights. The Darjeeling Limited left an empty pit in my stomach for travelling across India on a train with only a bag on my back. Unfortunately that ain't going to happen tonight but as an alternative this song manages to take me there whilst injecting some of Dusk + Blackdown's modern dub/electronic sounds. You can definitely hear hints of Burial and Thievery Corporation in this track - it does need some bass however so tune your equalizer or put it on your big speakers.
