"Are you okay?" "Watching news..." So read the subject line and the opening line of the email I read first thing this morning from my friend Deirdre in New York City. The last time I received such a cryptically worded email was six years ago when I was on vacation in Buenos Aires. After a brief Internet search, I found out that I was out of a job, thanks to the folding of Teen People magazine, and free to move to BA. Although there could very well once again [...]

Every now and then there is that “game changer” of an album in the metal world. An album that is so revolutionary that it becomes hard to imagine what metal sounded like before it. Unfortunately, Lamb of God’s newest release, Resolution, is not such an album. Lamb of God, hailing from Richmond, Virginia is one of the front-runners in the current American metal scene and considered by many to be the catalyst for the scene’s growth. With the release New American Gospel in 2000(the first album the band released under [...]

We caught up with New York based underground techno DJ, Elon, ahead of his set next weekend at London night Select*Elect. After he picked his Top Ten Tracks for us back in December we though now we be an ideal time to have a more in-depth chat. Not only did he show a rather frightening cannibalistic side(!) but he also revealed there's hidden backwards messages in his music! Luckily, he's not really that scary so we we quizzed him on New York nightlife and his collaboration with Maceo Plex. He also recorded the first hour of his set [...]
Lamb of God Resolution Roadrunner Records 23 January 2012 by Tom Dare Lamb of God appear to have truly made it in the A-League of the metal world. The way you can tell is by the number of people who have either fallen over themselves to froth all over latest album Resolution or taken to the Internet to moan about it. You have to be doing rather well to please/piss off this many people. So who's [...]
We like stuff that's a bit different here at Thrash Hits. That's why we do silly things like talking to Devin Townsend about hot sauce and Neil Fallon about beer . So when we got emailed a link to an interview with Lamb Of God's Mark Morton about liking NASCAR, we thought we'd share the video with you. Reasonable. If only Morton liked American Football, we could make a wholly contemporaneous reference to the Super Bowl. He likes NASCAR though. This is a video interview.
For those of you who like to try before you buy, Lamb of God's new album Resolution is now available in full for free streaming at AOL.com. I refused to listen to the shitty pirated version of the album that leaked about a month ago, so I feel quite justified in my waiting. We reviewed the album last week, ...
Even as a staunch supporter of Richmond’s metal titans Lamb of God, their last album Wrath simply didn’t compare to their previous releases. The aggression was there in spades; it just sounded more like a b-sides collection to Sacrament than anything else. The band had found themselves at a huge crossroads in their career – ...
Watching what you eat is a top priority when it comes to New Year's resolutions, but maintaining those goals can be a huge pain in the ass with the tedious policing you have to do. Not to fear- Huffington Post has 11 food resolutions that won't leave you crying in a bathtub fiending for a donut. Attainable food goals such as using a whole bird or reading ingredient labels are examples of things everyone should be doing. There's nothing militant or drastic about the list, which makes it very approachable and even fun, with resolutions like hosting [...]

We know it's only January 3rd, but surely everyone and their aunt knows that making jokes about Lamb of God's new album being called Resolution is already past-it, right? We're all on the same page with that now? Good. Let's just listen to 'Desolation' , the new track they released from it today then, shall we? Listen to 'Desolation', the latest track from Lamb of God's forthcoming new album: Since we've heard two tracks from Resolution [...]

This year, you'll start running, you'll quit smoking, you'll waste less time, you'll kick television, you'll love more and eat less. Whether you're trying to save up or get your weight down, as long as your resolutions last, here's your soundtrack. Full track list after the jump! Track listing: [...]

It's New Year's Eve in Bangkok, and I can still remember the last one, in Buenos Aires, like it was yesterday. In a way, I can't believe that it wasn't. Each year seems to go by more swiftly than the one before it! Last New Year's Eve's celebration began with a small get-together at the apartment of my friend Cara and ended with the last guy of note that I can remember meeting in Buenos Aires. I woke up on January 1 thinking that although, this would not be the beginning of [...]

It’s happening again: time to reflect on the good, bad and ugly of the past 365 days. For me, I must admit, things have been pretty decent. I’ve managed to get a handle on a new language (two if you include Bayerisch, which is totally in a class of its own), and began to forge a new existence, with a level of success, here in Munich. I couldn’t ask for anything more. Musically, this year I seem to have fallen behind those in the forefront of the blogosphere, as illustrated in my top 7 of 2011 . [...]

Music makes me happy. 2011 made me very happy - SO MUCH good music. Here are ten, not necessarily in order, albums I loved this year. I'm still doing it in reverse order though, because it's my list, and I want to. 10. American Nomad - Apache Relay American Nomad sounds like a warm summer afternoon. It's all happy jangly guitars, nice harmonies, and underpinned by a drive to get on the road and get lost. It's constantly listenable and I love it. They sit [...]
Earlier today, those rambunctious Virginian s, Lamb of God, released the first full-length track from their forthcoming sixth* studio album, Resolutions. Now some of us here at Thrash Hits are what you could call 'hardcore fanboys' when it comes to Lamb of God, and others among us are a bit more on the tepid side of things -- [...]
Randy Blythe and Mark Morton from Lamb Of God are on camera talking to Thrash Hits about the new album, Resolution.
Lamb Of God's sixth studio album, Resolution is being released on 23 January 2012. What's their most metal album title? Hmmm...
Brooklyn goes hard. We've seen some pretty nice stuff coming from the Borough of Trees. And, some grimy productions . Soul Khan continues the tradition of soulful, borough bumping hip-hop that's quick-witted on the chorus with serious mic skills on the verses. Resolution is a fresh four track release with tracks oddly named, "Anne Hathaway" and "Lord Khan Almighty". On the former track he's saying, "Cut you like you a lunch line." Sounds elementary, sure, but the delivery is smooth over some falsetto vocal stabs. The production has heavy handed sampling and it'll remind you of [...]

Take an abandoned bank in Long Island City, turn it into a sprawling outdoor pool club, and add two of techno music’s most innovative DJs. That’s what’s going down on Friday, September 2nd, when ReSolute and Basic team up for a one-off event in one of New York’s most unique – and very temporary – event spaces. They're kicking off Labor Day weekend with a thunderous double-header of dark and driving techno as Stockholm’s Joel Mull and Southampton’s Alan Fitzpatrick – both standouts of the amazing Drumcode label – come to Long Island [...]

Dave Hause, for folks who didn’t arrive in Ninebullet country on the punk rock train, fronts Philly based pop-punk band The Loved Ones . ( Full disclosure: I have listened to and enjoyed The Loved Ones ). We've all watched the singers from “punk” bands strike out on their own over the last few years, spurred on by each other’s success, free liquor, fan support and, of course, age. Some release albums that sound a lot like their punk band, just stripped down to an acoustic (e.g. Tom Gabel ), while others change their sound [...]
