Andy Hull played a show Thursday last week in Atlanta with Colour Revolt . I've been refreshing youtube ever since hoping for some footage. This clip just turned up of a new Right Away, Great Captain song. Not sure what the title is but hopefully it'll be on the new LP! If you know of any other footage from the event, send it my way.

While we probably won't be able to feast on Right Away, Great Captains 3rd full-length til mid 2012, RAGC die hards will be able to hear at least one new song from him this month. Andy lended his talents to what looks to be a cover of "Oh Holy Night" for a charity Pierpont Record charity compilation. Pierpoint Records is an independent, non profit label based in south Wales, UK, that aims to use music to help support Teenage Cancer Trust. You can pre-order the compilation and preview [...]

Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra has started a tumblr where he'll be posting new tunes and updates. He just shared a couple of new songs, one from his solo project, 'Right Away, Great Captain entitled "Blame" ( free mp3 ) and the other, a cover song by Alison Krauss , called "Ghost In This House" which you can stream below or over at his tumblr if you don't want to take the jump.

There's still no concrete information on the final release of Andy Hull's Right Away, Great Captain project. The third and final chapter, The Church of The Good Thief is highly anticipated around these parts, so I'm extremely excited to share a new track from it, "Blame" . Hull has also started a blog where he'll hopefully be posting more demos and stuff. Keep your eye's open, hopefully this means more information is on it's way! MP3 // BLAME

I think I just failed one of my new year's resolutions: posting every day. I knew it was bound to happen, but thought I might make it a little longer. I'm starting this post at 11:28pm, and I could either try to rush to push it out or write something worth reading. I think I'd rather compromise my own goals than your experience - so quality comes first. If I manage to publish before the day is done, so be it. I think I may be one of the few people with musical tastes like mine who doesn't [...]

It really doesn't matter how I'm feeling, I love me a good sad song. Life can be as chipper as possible (and in most ways it has been lately) and still I'm a glutton for some melodic misery. I've been questioned about it a million times and my only great explanation is that it's definitely the emotional vicarious thrill and not the therapy that most people suppose it to be. There's just nothing like that wash of bummedness drifting over you. On that note, here are some of my recent faves; they aren't thoroughly bummed, but they deliver nonetheless. Enjoy. [...]

It was a spectacular weekend for me on the new music discovery front. I just stumbled into all sorts of audio goodness, which I will spend my Monday sharing here with you as opposed to...you know, working. First up is Right Away Great Captain, a side project of Manchester Orchestra's lead singer Andy Hull, which immediately explains why I love the record so much. Musically, it may come off a bit softer, a bit more folky, but lyrically it is as biting and brutally honest as anything MO has ever recorded. The record I have been digging is [...]

I've been listening to so much music lately, but have been so busy, that getting posts and reviews written has proved to be somewhat difficult. So, instead of writing indepth reviews like I normally do, I'm going to write a bunch of mini-reviews to highlight the new stuff I've been listening to. (mini-reviews after the jump!) ______________________________ ______________________________ _______________________ Jukebox the Ghost Let Live and Let Ghosts Perch Score: 9.134/10 Jukebox the Ghosts remains one of my favorite finds on the Sixty [...]
It's been a cold, rainy and lazy Sunday here in Chicago. The better part of the day I've been sitting here in my room searching for new music in the blogosphere, lurking on last.fm and listening to some pretty mellow and sad bastard tunes. Perfect rainy day listening in my opinion. I thought I would upload my playlist to share with you all. Enjoy! 1. I Can Not Have Seen the Light - Magnolia Electric Co. 2. Won't Be Long - Ferraby Lionheart 3. Wisconsin - Bon Iver 4. My Sympathy [...]

Right Away, Great Captain! is a side project of Manchester Orchestra 's frontman, Andy Hull. The Evenutally Home , the second album in a planned trilogy was released back in November 2008. The first installment, The Bitter End , was released in 2006. Hull plays the role of narrator in telling the tale of a 17th century sailor who catches his wife in a compromising situation with his brother (ouch!), contemplating revenge with growing madness, while finding his way back home. Keep in mind, this is not MO Part 2. RAGC! has been getting a lot [...]

Okay, so I lied about posting this on December 22nd. I was tired of moving an album up a spot, moving it back the next day and just stopped. I got it all together and thought "let's get this out there now while I can" so here it is. This is Slowcoutic's favourite albums from 2008 - remember as previously mentioned, I am always right and take criticism terribly. Got it, good. Drumroll please.... ~~ 10. Boduf Songs - How [...]
