While I am a fan of every track on this list, this is not a typical "best-of" or "KG's favorites" list. These tracks may not be the first bit of recognition the artists received, but each song I've chosen here has had an immense impact on the artist's career following the single. So think of this more as a "Put Them On The Map" list. [...]
"Below are eleven tracks that encompass both who we are and where we're headed. It is comprised of artists we both look up to and strive to align ourselves with. It is a mix perfect for both driving up the coast and traveling through time. We hope you enjoy." - Das Tapes Download the 11-track [...]
STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) has now been on a journey of both miles and musicianship for over a decade. Formed near Atlanta, GA, the five-piece "jamtronica" outfit has performed for countless fans across the globe, but the gentlemen have always had even higher expectations for their progressive electronic jams. STS92s current "Great Cycles Spectacles" showcases the band's longtime fascination with time and space, combining an overwhelming visual experience with already visceral aural explorations. Prior to the activation of STS92s new setup, DJ-extraordinaire RJD2 hit the stage of Chicago's Congress Theater, equipped with four-turntables and [...]
Tweet vaso link This song is not new. It's from 2002, but it's still fucking brilliant. And I wanted to share it again, because it came up on shuffle on my iPod today and reminded me of how awesome it is. RJD2 is one of the best hip hop producers ever. Sincerely, ever. His debut album, released on Def Jux, is titled Deadringer , and I really can't recommend it enough. And his 2002 collaboration with Copywrite remains one of my all-time hip hop highlights. [...]

My people, meet VOODOO FARM aka Liam Dirlam. This NYC based DJ/filmmaker/producer is pretty great. I've posted a few of his remixes on here before, but felt that now was as good a time as any to give him some solo shine. Listen to the tracks below to understand why. You can catch him on Soundcloud or Facebook A Day In The Life - The Beatles - VOODOO FARM Remix - Right click/Save link as to download. Click on play arrow to the left of song [...]
STS9 played a sold-out two night run at the Fillmore in Denver this past weekend as part of their Great Cycle Spectacles shows. Check out my photos from the show below and check back soon for my gallery from night two! Shows were sick! The band plays two shows this weekend in Chicago under the [...]

The Beatles, David Bowie, Brian Eno, Heatwave, Blue Oyster Cult and the Mahavishnu Orchestra are just some of the bands whose music you'll hear on a new radio "station" hosted and programmed by RJD2 on Slacker Radio. You can listen to it here . RJ's recent release is his collaboration with Aaron Livingston as Icebird on the album The Abandoned Lullaby .
Today we're pleased to announce that Slacker Radio has launched RJD22s very own radio station! You can hear hand picked songs from RJD2 himself, his most favorite and influential music, plus some of his own. He talks about how some of the songs have impacted his life and music career ...

Dallas, Texas held the Lights All Night festival, the biggest NYE electronic dance festival in the country and we were there!

She said disco, DJ from northern France, has shown up on our radar before and we're excited to see some new stuff. This mix fit today perfectly, a sleepy and comfortable Saturday that made no claim to leave the house. Embedded in the ambient yet at times energized mixtape are Bot'ox, murmurs of RJD2 and a melancholic reconfiguration of "A Day in the Life." My only grief is that Young Money somehow crashed the otherwise chillax party. I don't want to wake up mixtape by [...]

So we've made it to December... no more fall, no more November. We're about to be waist deep in mittens, holiday music on repeat, coke-cola polar bears and hopefully some J-mo spiked cider. To kick off this season-o-spiked-cider, we've got a jolly mix of tunes that will keep you warm until you finally bite the bullet and buy a winter coat after you lost your last one boozin too hard last February (or maybe that's just me.) <<<Download the Kick Kick Snare December Mixtape Here>>> Happy Holidays KickKickSnarers! We can't wait to [...]

RJD2 is a master of style. Whether it's hip hop, funk, classic rock, or whatever it is, he blends genres together with perfection to create his own signature style. With Icebird, his project with Aaron Livingston, the evidence of this signature style is matched by Livingston's cool, carefree vocals. The result is music that I can't get out of my head, songs that I find myself playing over and over. And over. The Abandoned Lullaby (RJ's Electrical Connections, October 2011)

RJD2 is one of the finest producers making music. PERIOD. Despite not getting a lot of commercial play, his unreal instrumentals are atypical in hip hop music. His changeups and drum programming is that of legend. Amazing build ups, ethereal sounds and 15 different records sampled on one song = RIDICULOUS TALENT. Dude's a beast. Respeck. Drop it like a Ghostwriter - Snoop Dogg vs RJD2 - Vico Ono - Vico Ono mashed up RJD2's "Ghostwriter" with Snoop's "Drop it like it's Hot". Dope. via [...]

Next week, Passion of the Weiss will be counting down the 50 Greatest Producers of All-Time. Before then, we're highlighting some of the best to ever yell at people for labeling them "beat makers." (It's better than the excessively pause-worthy, "knob twiddlers.)" Before you ask, #1 is going to the guy who made the beat for "Still Tippin.'" It seemed like the only sensible option. Rick Rock What was the point of [...]

Life is best served LIVING. So do that shit. If you want to do something, do it. If you want to say something, say it. Regret is a good life's worst enemy. ~ Mayor Marwan Little Man - Little Dragon - Benji Boko Remix - I got to see Little Dragon last year with The Gorillaz and it was awesome. I really like these Swedes. Here's a DOPE remix of Little Man by Benji Boko. via Charmed [...]
