One of our favourite bands, Deer Tick will return with a new album Negativity  in September this year. Preceding it by a month will be this single and first taste from the album, the brilliant The Rock . It is another in their ever-growing collection of guitar-heavy, heart-on-sleeve Americana gems, but this time includes blasts of brass and piercing strings that spit dirt all over the song’s underbelly. An almost unrecognizable John McCauley lingers behind his band-mates in the above photo promoting the new Deer Tick album Negativity , due on Partisan Records Sept 24. McCauley's newly exposed hairline, jawline and face - seem almost symbolic of the raw emotions and lyrical content within the album - mostly resulting from an ill-fated engagement to Nikki "Darlin" singer for Those Darlins. With crisp, clean production from Steve Berlin, McCauley's voice and songs are the focus of this moodier and reflective new album - and it suits the group - and perhaps appeases [...]

After Peal 's set was Toronto's Absolutely Free . I forgot they were playing at the festival. I was glad to catch their set in Toronto. Having seen them various times, they never disappoint with their indie loud experimental rock music. What I love about the Toronto music scene. No matter how big or small the band is, there is a great support system with their fans and friends. Totally a fun rocking set! [...]

Last year the rock and metal trio  Stone Carpet  started their project about releasing four EP:s during a year. Each EP contains three tracks and has it's own character and theme. I told you about the first two parts in August, and now all parts have been published, which all together form the album"Dispositio", downloadable from their site . « Suck it and See » a déjà deux ans, on se souvient encore des shows du groupe lors de cette tournée, et la suite était espérer dans les plus brefs délais. Il y a de ça 1 mois « Do i Wanna Know? » était leur intro lorsqu'ils ont joué à Ventura, nous pouvons maintenant poser les oreilles sur une version clean et classe. Leur talent n'est plus à justifier, mais il est toujours bon de voir qu'ils se portent bien et que la suite a tout pour plaire.

Went to the Silver Doom Room for Pop Montreal's NXNE showcase. I only caught the first band that played. It was AroarA . I heard some good things about this act because one of the members is Andrew Whiteman of Broken Social Scene. I almost got starstruck just because!! The female singer is Ariel Engle who is part of AroarA. They played a really great indie experimental and atmospheric rock music. Really enjoyed their set a lot! [...]

Later in the day. After leaving the Dine Alone Record's BBQ. Decided to hit up the free show taking place at St. James Park which is on the corner of Jarvis and King. The Balconies was playing a show under the gazebo. Mother nature did not cooperate because it started to rain. Anyways alot of people braved the rain to see the band perform live. El Ten Eleven is a duo that doesn't like to be captured in a label.  They make powerful instrumental music that spans various genres and soundscapes.  Last year, the group released their latest album, Transitions , as well as a remix of the album in April.  Now, they're going on tour again with a stop at Johnny Brenda's in September.  Last time the band hit Philly, they did an interview with Paradigm Magazine backstage at the North Star Bar, discussing their philosophies on life and music.  Check out the interview below and get ticket information on the 21+ [...]
