Vonelle is a Toronto-based, indie rock band who released a self-titled EP last spring. The five song long EP pairs experimental song structures with Julia Crawford’s ethereal voice, creating a whole lot of wonder in just under twenty minutes. The opening track (“Over&Over”) starts with a catchy beat and a poetic first line, “Pretty once parading all over your bed.” Crawford continues to deliver vivid lines about dreams with a “ruby red gleam,” while also subtly balancing the surreal with the real through rhyme—like, “radios trying to pretend” with “be your own best friend.” The EP [...]

The National 's Trouble Will Find Me won't dropped until May 21st. There is high anticipation on this album. I think this is one the standout tracks on the album. More of a upbeat rock track. Have a listen to Graceless . You excited for the new album?

American Songwriter's latest free Muse sampler is a gem featuring twelve tracks that includes such MM faves as Phosphorescent, Caitlin Rose, Water Liars, Cheyenne Marie Mize and Futurebirds alongside some Americana heavyweights like Son Volt and Will Johnson and the new-wave inspired indie rock of the Features . Just head over to their Bandcamp page here and download it all for nothing. . . Follow @madmackerel

Toronto's TEENAGE KICKS have released their latest six song EP 'Be On My Side', which finds the group expanding beyond the grungy power-pop of the first release. We like the description of the music which is likened to "the girl you meet in high school that you end up marrying ten years later. Their songs stay with you, and you grow to love more about them as time goes by". Shortly before the release of the EP, the band unveiled the Teenage Kicks Singles Club, a service that will deliver two new songs to subscribers every few [...]
![High Waters, Wake Island and Trees @ Raw Sugar Cafe [May 17, 2013]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4958112_lg.jpg)
It was the start of the long May weekend. Decided to go to Raw Sugar Cafe for this show. Just noticed the band names had a nature related theme. Playing at the show: • High Waters • Wake Island • Trees The show started off with Ottawa's Trees. It was the [...]
Umphrey’s is very, very good at what they do and anyone who has the slightest interest of working in the music industry should take notes on their ‘listen-to-your-fans’ business model. They have been slowly teasing their upcoming live release “Live at the Tabernacle” , which was filmed at the venue in Atlanta during their four-night New Years Eve run. Every progressive-rock band needs a good single, and though they have been melting faces at sold-out shows for the last fifteen years, has only released one . “Loose Ends” has potential for being a great [...]

Hint: He shoots, he scores! - This week has been exceedingly crammed with impressive new music...not all of it was released this week, however. Georgia band Crass Mammoth preview "Dear Violet" from their forthcoming EP "Ef En Eu". "Dear Violet" both melodically and instrumentally is very raw & immediate, visceral. Each strum, each tap of the fingerboard, each chord shape movement sucks straight to your inside. There's an obvious bit of influence here in the tune especially of 902s bands like Alice in Chains & Stone Temple Pilots; almost (and we mean this in a very complimentary way) to the extent that "Dear Violet" is a lost hit from the alt rock radio era. The "Ef En Eu" EP is out June 4th. [...]

Scottish alt rockers Primal Scream recently dropped their tenth studio album More Light on their own label, First International. Their song "Invisible City" shows that the band has regained an energy that we've been missing from the band since 20062s Riot City Blues . Primal Scream will perform a much anticipated set at this year's Glastonbury festival. Don't miss it. By Bruce Rave Primal Scream - Invisible City Primal Screen ( Facebook ) [...]

Exploding in Sound Records have introduced to me to a couple of my new favorite bands this year in Geronimo! and Fat History Month , but Newtown, Connecticut trio Ovlov might be their best introduction yet. Made of three brothers-- Steve, Theo, and Jon Hartlett-- Ovlov boasts a 90s throwback sound with dynamic riffs and subtle yet sweltering pop melodies that float nicely atop a murky layer of shoegaze distortion. Blue Baby , the first single from their forthcoming debut album am [...]

A few days ago The Dodos dropped a new single called Confidence. Today the band are signed to Dine Alone Records for the Canadian market. You can say it is a departure but also a tribute to Chris Reimer who passed away last year. It has that Woman influence with the guitar jangle sound. Such a brilliant song to listen. Have a listen to Confidence. Confidence is taken from the upcoming album Carrier on August 27th through Polyvinyl and Dine Alone [...]
![Absolutely Free and Fet. Nat @ Mugshots [May 16, 2013]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4956486_lg.jpg)
It was a chilly May night. Also the first of Bacon Fats Thursday night at Mugshots. Very excited to see the Toronto band. Playing at the show: • Absolutely Free • Fet. Nat The show started off with Fet. Nat. Having already seen them last Friday. They put on a crazy loud, experimental rock set. [...]

Photo by Daniel Robson Oioi, lads n lasses, please let us introduce ourselves, we're Kobadelta... We've been gigging round Newcastle for a couple of years but it's been a decent last 6 months for us, getting a few plays on BBC Radio Newcastle, supporting up and coming psychedelic dudes Temples and generally refining our heavy blues brand of so-called "indie-psych-rock" with an added pinch of synths starting to be thrown into the mix. Check out our new single "When It Rains It Pours" for a taster... Hopefully the [...]

I’ve always wondered why so many people turn up to a gig an hour or two after the venue opens its doors; if I took this approach, I’d have never heard some of my favorite bands. For example, the first time I heard Cork-based The Altered Hours was downstairs in the Roisín Dubh, where they were playing a support slot for O Emperor. I didn’t know any of the bands playing that night, but I left feeling quite satisfied with the night’s outcome. However, had I arrived an hour or two later, just before the headlining act took to the [...]
