QOTSA preview two more tracks from …Like Clockwork (Video)

QOTSA preview two more tracks from …Like Clockwork (Video) There are two more songs from ...Like Clockwork that found their way on to YouTube over the past couple days. QOTSA seem content with releasing these preview animated videos to help build the buzz around their new album. Yesterday's track "Kalopsia" features Trent Reznor on supporting vocals. "Keep Your Eyes Pealed" is a typical Queens track that feels a little more like album filler. "Eat Fuck" on the jacket made my day though. GG reigns. "Kalopsia" "Keep Your Eyes Pealed"

Why Harvard & Stone is Against Rap Music and/or Why I’m Canceling My Participation in Tonight’s Show

Why Harvard & Stone is Against Rap Music and/or Why I’m Canceling My Participation in Tonight’s Show It's with sadness and no small amount of disdain that Passion of the Weiss will not be participating in tonight's show at Harvard & Stone. Last evening, I received word from a third-party that someone at Harvard & Stone had taken a closer look at the bill that I had helped to curate alongside Chicano Batman's manager. The text message from the H&S employee read: "Hey...I was checking out some of the act for the res, are some of them hip hop or "dance music"? Because the GM is really selective about the bands and will not allow [...]

QOTSA – I Appear Missing (Video)

QOTSA – I Appear Missing (Video) I'll assume the creators of Metalocalypse helped with making the new animated video for Queens Of The Stone Age . "I Appear Missing" has the same brutal imagery as the Adult Swim show. Great to hear another track from ...Like Clockwork . Can't wait for that one to leak.

Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ Psyence

Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ Psyence It is so easy to get lost in the trippy, addictive, and intoxicating world of Psyence. AMBY and this Stoke-on-Trent quartet go way back- we instantly loved the band for their unique and driven psychedelic sound. Releasing their latest track ZEBRA yesterday, AMBY decided to celebrate with our great interview with the band. Have a look, as Psyence spoke to us about science, upcoming vibes, and no limits! AMBY: Hey Psyence, introduce yourself to AMBY please! Who are Psyence? Psyence: Psyence are a PSYCHEDELIC Rock and Roll quintet founded late [...]

Rock and Roll 101: The Show Must Go On

A new documentary, “ Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey, ” tells the unlikely story of Arnel Pineda , the Filipino singer discovered on YouTube who became the lead singer of rock giant Journey . Pineda was tasked with replacing Steve Perry , the voice behind Journey mega-hits like “ Who’s Cryin’ Now ,” “ Open Arms ” and the film’s title track. Replacing an iconic vocalist may be the toughest job in rock. But a singer’s departure, though devastating, does not always mean the end of a band’s touring and [...]

The Money Go Round: Concert Review & Photos!

Click to view slideshow. The Money Go Round's latest single  Endless Sun  made it as AMBY's Song of the Day earlier this week, and they also recently released a video clip for the song. It's summery, it's fun, and has an awesome vintage feel, with awesome effects and style. The song doesn't stray far from The Money Go Round's murky  Yayaya  and psychedelic, driven  Silicon Girl .  Endless Sun  is very Beatles-inspired (think  Magical Mystery Tour  era) with a touch of Hendrix. Don't assume the song's just for summer, either — these guys live [...]

MC5 "Kick Out The Jams" (Wayne State University - 1970)

MC5 "Kick Out The Jams" 1970 (Reelin' In The Years Archives)
"Here's MC5 filmed live on the campus of Wayne State University in Michigan and aired on hometown TV show "Detroit Tubeworks" in 1970 doing their biggest hit "Kick Out The Jams." We found the master tapes of over 11 hours from this legendary show which had been stored in a basement in Michigan. Other great guests we found on this underground show from 1968-1973 include MC5, Ted Nugent, Phil Ochs, Commander Cody, Captain Beefheart, Earth, Wind & Fire, Humble Pie, Fleetwood Mac featuring Peter Green and Joe Cocker. Also part of this archive is a 45-minute unseen [...]

Fall Out Boy, Save Rock and Roll: recensione del web e dei lettori

Listen Before You Die: Warren Zevon – Stand In The Fire

Listen Before You Die: Warren Zevon – Stand In The Fire OK. There may be some holes in this album, but most of what’s on here is a great example of highly-energized, nicely paced live rock and roll. Recorded in 1980 at the Roxy in Los Angeles, this album catches Warren Zevon in one of those rare times when he is sober. The production quality for a live performance is goo. It’s pretty tight and he delivers some intense performances of Zevon classics like "Excitable Boy" and "Jeanne Needs A Shooter". He and David Landon are both great on guitar and Zevon hops on piano to good effect. "Lawyers, [...]

QOTSA – My God Is The Sun (MP3, Stream)

QOTSA – My God Is The Sun (MP3, Stream) With debuting this track last week and now the announcement of QOTSA at Made In America, I had to get on the hunt for the studio recording to download. "My God Is The Sun" is an instant classic from QOTSA. This and NIN live together? Just throw in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and my entire wishlist for this summer will be complete. Fingers crossed there are a few more additions to the lineup... Like Clockwork is out in June. QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE - MY GOD IS THE SUN

Queens of the Stone Age – “My God Is The Sun”

Queens of the Stone Age – “My God Is The Sun” There are few constants with Queens of the Stone Age . The band sees members come and go on a yearly bases, and each record they put out never sounds quite like the last one. The important things always stay the same though: The ever-present guidance of front-man vocalist/guitarist Josh Homme , and that every record is sorta, kinda, awesome. Today Queens of the Stone Age released the first song from their upcoming 2013 effort, ... Like Clockwork .  "My God Is The Sun," is exactly what you were hoping for: More infectious, repetitious hamm ering of notes, building and [...]

Video: The National – “Demons”

The National - "Demons"
Everyone's favorite dad rockers, The National , have released a music video for "Demons," the first single off their new album, Trouble Will Find Me , due out May 21 on 4AD Records . The video features a mirror image effect, a dude doing a chalk illustration of a pretty lady, and then that same dude erasing the chalk illustration of the pretty lady. It's probably about the impermanence of relationships and our own fleeting time on this earth. Or maybe the guys in The National just really like chalk. [...]

Holy Rollers, Rock and Rollers, and the Birth of Rock Music

COGIC Praise Break Dance of Bishop CH Mason Rare Footage
While today rock is ubiquitous, few of us really understand the nuts and bolts of rock's beginnings and especially not of rock's crucial debt to the so-called "holy rollers" of the Pentecostal church. That Pentecostal-rock connection, in fact, is a key to understanding what makes rock and roll what it is. No story speaks to America's spirit of rebellion and its sacred-secular tensions more than the deeper, true story of rock music. While today rock is ubiquitous, few of us really understand the nuts and bolts of rock's beginnings and especially not of rock's crucial debt to the so-called [...]

Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ The Strypes

Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ The Strypes It's seriously impressive how great The Strypes are. Cavan, Ireland's Ross Farrelly, Josh McClorey, Pete O'Hanlon, and Evan Walsh have taken rock 'n' roll and made it their own. They've been praised and called the number one new band to watch for a reason, and we know why. Adding dashes of rhythmic blues and tons of heart, The Strypes' music is infectious. So we spoke with the band to see what's new, find out the story behind their name, and how they're releasing an album! AMBY: How would you describe The Strypes' sound to those [...]
