Ok, so we all know about the new movie that just came out this last week starring Alec Baldwin, Tom Cruise, and Catherine Zeta Jones, "Rock of Ages". DJ Schmolli has taken numerous numbers used throughout the entirety of the film itself and mashed them all together to make this "Rock of Ages" compilation. Just one quick comment about the 'Rock of Ages' movie that just came out. It's not the actors, the story and probably not the broadway style'd theme that makes this movie sound horrendous, it's everything else. Mind you, I've only seen previews so far, but going from the previews the quality in directing, editing & cinematography appears contrived & lacking any art. All of the evidence suggested that Rock of Ages, the cinematic adaptation of the smash Broadway jukebox musical, was going to suck big hairy Gene Hoglan balls. So I naturally assumed it was going to be a massive hit, because let's be real - most box-office successes these days are horrible fucking movies. But - [...]

The stadium anthems that form the backbone of Rock of Ages are meant to be heard live and at least the show features some decent vocal performances. The Top Ten estimates are in and there seems to be a major drop in movie watching this week. Rock of Ages did not help the cause either. Oh well, what can you do. I can't believe I'm about to dedicate an entire blog post to defending Tom Cruise , but boy must Showbiz 411 really have it in for him. The website has already run two articles sounding the death knell for Cruise's run as a true box-office draw.
