Rock Werchter 2011

Rock Werchter 2011 Planning a bit ahead this time, this is what we'll be doing from tomorrow the 30th on. Rock Werchter is one of the oldest and biggest Rock Festivals in Europe. Not quite as old as Pinkpop but still, the first edition was in 1975. (Not counting the predecessor Jazz Bilzen where it allegedly originated from) I talked to Kathleen, PR agent for the festival, and she told me that in general the live stream should be accessible worldwide UNLESS an artist's management decides otherwise , in that case only people in Belgium will be able to [...]

Five Live Bands For 2011

Five Live Bands For 2011 5 Live Bands To See In 2011. As we get further into 2011, we can almost feel summer lurking around the corner with the promise of festivals, barbecues, misguided shorts revealing comedy white legs and let's face it, torrential rain.... However being the eternal optimist the mere thought of sunshine induces giddy anticipation as we dust down the trusty mankini and ready it for another outing. And so to match the (almost) new season how about checking out some [...]

Festivals in Brief: Rock in Rio, Lollapalooza, Summer Camp

Although the first signs of vernal equinox may be late bloomers this week, there was no shortage of blossoming on the festival front. With the first major festival of the season under our belts, let's look ahead to what lies ahead in our futures. Many lineup announcements have been flying in from both sides of the Atlantic, with Reading and Leeds, Northside Festival, Summer Camp, Sweetlife, and Heavy T.O. Camp Bisco joins the ranks of festivals celebrating big anniversaries this year, with their 10th edition attracting big names, while the Hangout Festival continues to add A-list acts to [...]

12 european music festivals guide line up 2011 - Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, Bestival, Pukkepop, Roskilde, T in the park, Dour, Rock Werchter, Benicassim, Sziget Festival

It's interesting to follow how differently festivals are when it comes to strategies for announcing artists for this years summer festivals. Some festivals simply line up their artists when signed, leaving a line or two blank for last-minute announcement, others doesn't reveal a thing and some just reveals something. In Denmark, the well-known Roskilde Festival, has their own approach. Inspired

Festivals in Brief: Pitchfork, Glastonbury, Beale Street

Beads weren't the only things given out to deserving crowds of festival fanatics this week. With many important announcements made (and no self-exposure required!) these prizes were even more rewarding. Exciting news of returns for Langerado, Outside Lands, and Northside Festivals left fans cheering in Florida, San Francisco, and Brooklyn, respectively. Brits can rejoice as well this week, with major additions made to the Glastonbury, Hop Farm, End of the Road, ATP Curated by Animal Collective, Lovebox, and Creamfields lineups. It looks like New Orleans won't be the only city rocking the south this spring as Memphis's Beale [...]

Festivals in Brief: South By Southwest, B.O.M.B Fest, Electric Forest

It would appear that March isn't the only thing said to "come in like a lion" in the old adage. This week, festival rumors and news flew in with the ferocity of late winter winds, befitting the importance of the king of the jungle himself. For those of us who thought - if only for a second - that there were no more surprises, no more stops to be pulled out from South By Southwest, we must again to our chagrin, admit our mistake (which is, coincidentally, a word often associated with the latest rumored lineup addition). With [...]

Festivals in Brief: South by Southwest, All Good, T in the Park

While this past weekend may have meant a free Monday off from work (thanks George Washington), this was not the case for festival planners around the world. As the first signs of spring triumph over the winter freeze, we crawl closer to the festivals we've been waiting for all year. In the spirit of the current season, South by Southwest continues to snowball, collecting premier acts faster than momentum, and ensuring it as a force to be reckoned with. However, a somewhat quiet yet formidable resistance has been forming among the European ranks. With major lineup announcements/additions/rumors spreading [...]

Festivals in Brief: Bonnaroo, South by Southwest, Electric Forest

There's no way around it: this week was huge in music news. Between certain record release updates and the Grammys showcasing some of the best collaborations and performances in music today, it would be impossible to not get excited about all 2011's festivals have to offer. Monday, while many were celebrating Valentine's Day, still more were counting down the hours until Bonnaroo was set to release the official lineup for its decennial. With many of the past weekend's Grammy winners/nominees/performers on the billing, the announcement sparked much conversation. So much so, in fact, that it was almost easy [...]

Festivals in Brief: South by Southwest, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo

Each week that passes brings us all closer to knowing the details of our festival fates. With more rumors leaking in daily, there's plenty of anticipation building for the official announcements. Superbowl Sunday found many of us preoccupied in between quarters and touchdowns, as we anxiously awaited one such announcement. Of course I'm talking about the Sasquatch! Festival, not only one of the biggest in the country, but also the reigning champion of CoS's "Festival of the Year" title. As always, there was plenty other news to satisfy us this week. South by Southwest may be rapidly approaching, [...]
