Photo Credit: Karp I’ve said that The Great Googa Mooga reminded me of a huge gelatinous monster, and after attending, it turns out I wasn’t entirely off base. Thousands flocked to Prospect Park with high hopes for this unique music/food expo - the food vendors taking part all looked delicious, the music line-up seemed solid, and the weekend forecast was sunny, all ingredients for a fun weekend in the park. And I did have some serious fun. Charles Bradley put on an otherworldly performance, [...]

photo by Brittney Bollay Opening a main stage at a festival can be a daunting task, especially for a band that isn't used to playing festivals. " This is a little different than our basement," noted singer Galen Disston, "but we're really honored to be here." Lucky for Pickwick , a legion of fans rushed to the front of the stage, and with their support, Pickwick tore through a set of groove-based rock that started the day off with a bang. Their energy was high and their musicianship was tight, so by the time they [...]

Well, it's that time of the year again where everybody and they mamas drop a list of their favorite albums that came out this past year. I was actually pretty close to not putting together a... Read the rest on Speakerboxxx.com

Well, 2011 is over, and that's kind of scary, but I think I'm more thrown off by the fact that my birthday is tomorrow and that day always seems so far away. None of that matters though, because the end of the year really means year-end list time. I think I'm thrown off by this more than anything else because you've got to go over the whole year and decide which albums rank higher or lower than this album and that album. Generally, these lists seem predicated on what album is technically better than a group of others. [...]
This week in NYC, the live music scene calms down a bit with much slimmer pickings than the last few weeks. But there's still some good stuff to sink your teeth into...
Check out the Outside Lands Festival recap here, if you haven't already. Otherwise enjoy the image gallery below of the majority of the bands I caught over the weekend. What an amazing time, hopefully I can get back there again next year. Until then, enjoy the photos. Like my photos, want to holler at me, [...]
For four years running now, the good people at Another Planet and Superfly have put together a massive outdoor music festival in the part of San Francisco so far west that most people don't even know it exists. The weather is unpredictable, the terrain in this portion of Golden Gate Park is difficult, and with [...]
