FRANK OCEAN’s debut full-length album has just dropped and the man has everyone talking about his smooth vocals, his heart and soul dripped lyrics and the classic R&B grooves. ‘Sweet Life’ comes to us as the third single off the Channel Orange LP. The track swings mid-tempo for much of the song, and gets full with more elements picking up throughout. The track has a masterful hand of its instruments bringing together live and electronic sounds creating these blissful electro-soul grooves. The man is also [...]

Frank Ocean. You've probably heard the name quite a bit in the past week in one way or another. And while a lil 'ol blog like Mixtape Muse writing about a buzzed about artist might seem like an attempt to ride the coattails of that buzzwave in an attempt to increase our amount of hits, it's really not. We here at Mixtape Muse have been fans of Ocean (born Christopher Breaux) since last year's debut Nostalgia, Ultra mixtape. And so, I feel I must share Frank Ocean's performance from Monday night's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." [...]

Stereogum Last night, around the same time many of us were frantically downloading Channel Orange , Frank Ocean showed up on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to sing "Bad Religion," the song that had journalists speculating about his sexuality before he came out and spoke openly about it last week. It takes balls to perform a song that's been at the center of so much news, especially one that just about nobody has heard. But "Bad Religion" is just a ridiculously [...]

Fiona Apple returned to TV for the first time since 2006 last night, when the 34-year-old singer/songwriter visited old friend Jimmy Fallon. Fallon and Fiona have a history that dates back to 1999 when Jimmy opened for Apple at NYC's Roseland for an evening that went south shortly after she took the stage and started crying . The pair reminisced about that show during a brief interview before Fiona performed Anything We Want from her fantastic new album backed by The Roots. [Screenshot and [...]
During the infamous 1999 Roseland show where Fiona Apple melted down onstage, her two opening acts were Jimmy Fallon and Jurassic 5, which is a weird thing to think about. And on last night's episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon , Fallon and Apple shared a stage again for the first time since, with Apple making her first TV appearance since a 2006 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Fallon actually did a quick interview with Fallon before her performances where they talked about the incident. She also performed " Anything We Want ," [...]

Fiona Apple 's new album The Idler Wheel... is a delight to listen to and has been gaining praise from just about everywhere. Last night she no-doubt gained some new fans with a visit to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon who with she had a nice little chat in which she touches the subject of her on-stage meltdown back in 2004. After that though she performs "Anything We Want" and as an added bonus, a web exclusive performance of Paul McCartney & The Wings' "Let Me Roll With It" with the help of The Roots. Well, [...]
Ice-T wasn't the musical guest on Wednesday night's Jimmy Fallon, but after the show, the former rapper turned former television detective (actually, is L&O:SVU still on the air?) grabbed a mic, rounded up members of the roots and dropped his classic track "New Jack Hustler." For men of a certain age, "New Jack Hustler" - both the movie and the song - were seminal sixth grade events. That shit melted the face of 12-year-old me. Glad to see somethings don't change. On last night's episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon , Norah Jones came through to perform the lounge-noir title track to her new Danger Mouse-produced album Little Broken Hearts . It's the sort of song that could've ended up on the soundtrack of one of those Tarantino-ripoff movies that proliferated during the '90s, and Jones strapped on a guitar, a good look for her, to give it a smoky reading. Last night's show also had a bonus online performance, but this one didn't come from Jones. Instead, Ice-T, another guest on last night's episode, [...]
