The theme for this morning seems to be 1st Ohio and 2nd Outer Space. I don't know what it is about living in the Midwest during wintertime that makes most people want to transport past the stratosphere but I'm going to guess it's the weather. I first heard Ruckus Roboticus years ago on Ninja Tune Solid Steel Radio. He had quite a legendary set if I remember correctly. He has since disappeared then reappeared a few times. Now it seems he is hard to work on his new album in [...]
...Adam WarRock's The War for Infinity, which was released October 7, isn't your average modern day rap album. For the super-ambitious song-cycle the Washington DC-based rapper (born Eugene Ahn) joined creative forces with Dayton-based producer Dan "Ruckus Roboticus" Haug to deliver an intricate comic book-worthy tale about a cosmic hip-hop throwdown with the villain Demonos. "With [...]
...Collaborations can be tricky, especially when you're working with strangers. Luckily for Washington, DC-based rapper Eugene Ahn, who performs under the MC handle Adam WarRock, he felt an immediate kinship when he began collaborating on his new album The War for Infinity with Dayton-based DJ and producer Dan "Ruckus Roboticus" Haug. "Working with Dan has been [...]
...with the new week brings an exciting new addition to The Buddha Den. Today marks the introduction of the venerable Dayton music journalist Don Thrasher to the fold here at the Den. Below you can read his first full-length feature [a three-part story no less!] on the upcoming show at South Park Tavern featuring DC [...]

It's our old friend Ruckus Roboticus back to burn. This time he's flipping soul samples over ghetto house breaks like it ain't no never mind - the infectious dance nerve of this guy! Never imagined J.J. Jackson belting out his classic "But It's Alright" over Chicago juke breaks would work, but that's why Ruckus Roboticus is the DJ with the proper chops and not me. It would seem Roboticus is embracing his Midwest beat brethren, as each of his ...

After touring the world to promote his debut album Playing With Scratches & producing numerous critically acclaimed remixes (Bloc Party, Lady Tigre, Fool's Gold, & others), Ruckus Roboticus is back with a new single, "Chicks". "Chicks" is an extension of his signature quirky & innovative sample collages, as well as a departure... to the outskirts of electronic dance music. The result is an irresistible electro-swing-house number, which will bring smiles as well as ass-quakes to the dance floor. On this sonic journey, Ruckus brings some new friends along with him. "Chicks" remixes come courtesy [...]

We were huge fans of Playing With Scratches , the 2008 album from Ruckus Roboticus that featured samples from old childrens albums. The Dayton, Ohio DJ is a really talented individual who has also done remix work for the likes of Bloc Party, Fools Gold and many more. And now, some new beats are beginning to surface from the Gem City as Ruckus has returned with a new EP titled "Chicks." I have been listening to the title track all week and it has that same infectious mixture of sounds and [...]

At 28, Dan Haug, aka Ruckus Roboticus, is the youngest DJ to be inducted into the elite forces of Solid Steel, Coldcut's famed radio programme (as they spell it in the UK) and podcast...if my math is right. One thing I'm sure of, he's the only DJ from Dayton, Ohio, to roll with Solid Steel. Listen to any of his smiles-a-minute, sample-tastic dance mixes and you can see why. After you fall in love with his ability to mix and remix, be sure to purchase his LP of original music, 2007's Playing With Scratches , using the convenient e-commerce [...]

Bloc Party have got to be one of the most remixed bands around. The band themselves clearly embrace this as they are now set to release their second remixed compilation. In 2005 we saw the release of their critically acclaimed debut, Silent Alarm, shortly followed by the brilliant 'Silent Alarm : Remixed'. Now, four years on we are told of the forthcoming release of 'Intimacy : Remixed' a collection of reworks which make their 2008 release more suitable for dance-floors than the original indie anthems. 'Intimacy : Remixed' is released on May 11th this year [...]

It's been a strange few days over here at DCHQ . On Monday a certain NY radio station sent what can only be described as a compliment-strewn e-beg asking us to join their airwaves, affording us carte blanche on show content & tomfoolery. Yesterday we received word that this month our TWR podcasts are #1 on the Podbean site for the Radio category (with almost 14,000 listeners tuning in since New Year's day). Then we discover we have the 4th most listened to Radio podcast on the entire Podbean site, ever . This morning I received an email from a promoter asking [...]

Have you heard about this little known movie called Wall-E that just came out in theatres? You might have seen some trailers on some obscure public access channels or something. Well it's pretty awesome, so we thought this would be a good excuse to once again show our love for everything robot, and to fit another Daft Punk song onto our blog. So here is an all robot mix the songs having something to do with robots either by name or just sounding robotic in the music. Enjoy. (this is not endorsed by pixar , although [...]

Dayton, OH Ohio is a state that has more to offer than most would even imagine, and here's just one example - the Dayton DJ wonder boy that is Ruckus Roboticus. "When I Grow Up" Ruckus Roboticus on MySpace Ruckus Roboticus on The Hype Machine

We like Dayton, Ohio son, Ruckus Roboticus . Massive! This turntablist and cut-and-paste producer crafts audio gems on par with the O.G.'s: Kid Koala , Prefuse 73 , Cut Chemist , The Avalanches , et. al. If those names ring a bell, how about the endorsement of the biggest O.G., Steinski who said, "Holy Shit! ...Very impressive!" upon listening to Ruckus Roboticus' debut long-player, 'Playing with Scratches'. Here's some choice cuts from this tasty album: MP3: Ruckus Roboticus - Here We Go [...]
