Xylos (NYC) and King Kong (Louisville) are playing the Rudyard Kipling tonite, 7/16, at 9pm. The New York Times calls Xylos " vibrant and sinister" and says singer Katy B 'sings smoothly and sweetly'. King Kong might be considered a pleasant opposite of that.. but go find out for yourself tonight at the Rud.

Louisville is getting some great shows with bands on their way to SXSW. Get out there and go nuts, people! The Yellowbirds will be playing WFPK, Ear Xtacy, and the Rudyard Kipling on their way through town this Tuesday. The Yellowbirds is the moniker at Sam Cohen former frontman of Apollo Sunshine. The debut album "The Color" is available on Royal Potato Family Records.

Pennsylvanian indie folk quartet Lohio will be gracing us with their presence at the Rudyard Kipling on February 16. I recently went to the CD release party from a consortium of Kentucky bred singers, musicians and poets. The evening at the Rudyard Kipling included performances by many of the artist on the CD as well as readings from several poets and storytellers; it was a beautiful, soulful night full of emotion. Sometime last year I had just got out of a show and found out that The Seedy Seeds were playing at The Rud. I bolted over in time to catch about half of their set. Even though I only got to see about one half of their show, I immediately had way more fun seeing them than the last show I came from, and even shows from the past few months.
