Facebook Rules are a new London based quintet whose members have been in a few other bands I could mention but won't, instead I'm going to head straight into their debut release, a demo of a track entitled "What's Changed?", shared just a couple of days ago... It promises to be the first track of many, a statement on their Facebook says they plan to: 'digitally release a new song on the first Monday of each month for free from July 2013 with an accompanying photo and video. Followed by a [...]

DC-area producer Rules has followed up his self-titled EP, with a new track, "Dance, Love, Demise". It starts out with super dark pitch shifted r&b vocals, and gradually lightens up as more of the beat comes in, eventually settling in to a comfortable groove. The track is available for free download through his soundcloud .

Rules - Dance, Love, Demise It was about time for Rules to drop some hints about his forthcoming EP and he couldn’t find a better introduction with Dance, Love, Demise . Everything i loved about this DC producer is here. Only bigger and better! A soulful hybrid of uk/garage and post rn’b that dances its way around in the delightful samples and uptempo rhythms, concluding in a mind blowing game of interactive vibes that will surely make anyone who has a thing with electronic [...]

Civil Civil's music kinda sounds like Sonic Youth soundtracking a porno in space. Which is good if you like Sonic Youth. The Aussie born, now London residing expats met in Barcelona. Aaron Cupples met Ben Green after a tip off from mutual friends The Drones. Emails were exchanged, Ben flew to Barcelona 'blind-date' style to meet Aaron, they made some tunes. Now the the duo spend their days on an indefinite working holiday with a flashing LED box for a drummer. Upon their triumphant return to Oz for their upcoming tour, we asked guys to fill [...]

Rules - I’mPatient I may be a bit late on this, but DC producer Rules caught me instantly. The production is top notch, and seems to become almost tangible at points. Transcending into something you interact with, move your body too, react to. Definitely a project to look out for in 2013. Download the s/t Rules EP for free here . **Also be sure to check out the amazing remix by Yahtzel .
Not many children’s book authors can count members of The Throwing Muses, The Butthole Surfers and Dee Dee Ramone among those who have publicly endorsed their work, but the husband and wife creative team of John Seven and Jana Christy Seven are that rare pair. First having sharpened their collective pens in the alternative comics world, bringing to life the rat packed tales of hepcat Very Vicky ; over the past decade and a half the couple have published a number of storybooks and a travel guide intended for the often saccharine world of [...]

Lately I've been chilling hard with some Australian tunes, dreaming about sunshine and bleached blonde babes. Yahtzel , real name Max Armata, is only 19 but the dude know's how to make music. His "Girls" EP is expected to drop in the near future, so be sure to follow him on that SoundCloud thing. posted by @clarkbs
Keisha out of The Band Comprising All The Former Sugababes can't, apparently, talk about her experiences in the Sugababes: “Legally, I’ve been told I can’t go into detail. I can speak for England and I’d enjoy telling the world exactly what happened but I can’t. I pretty much found out when everyone else did. We had a really good relationship.” Yes, nothing screams "great relationship" like not even being able to talk about it for fear of being sued. -- Visit No Rock & Roll Fun to comment, complain and kvetch

There are some songs you hear and you're just like YUP. That's how this just went down. I got Yahtzel 's (outta Ulladulla, Australia) track 'Girls' yesterday but whoever must not have tagged it interestingly enough because I just listened to it twelve minutes ago. Talk about crystal-clear production. Max Armata makes you think he's going to go all James Blake-y with the unassuming piano chord intro, but then he starts swangin' and chopped n screwed vox are coming at you and you're dancing the lights out in that exclusive just-me-in-my-headphones club. Then I looked up [...]

Hailing from Washington, DC, Rules surfaced on Soundcloud not even a month ago. Following up on a sublime remix of Sango’s The Difference , their next release is a 3-song EP called Telepathy . With faint chords and pitched-down vocal chops, not only is the music fantastic, but it’s also available as a free download. If you’re looking for some music to permanently fill that gap in your playlist, then you’ve found it here. Support Rules on Facebook | Soundcloud [...]
Rules So Many Details (Rules Remix) Words coming soon… For now, just enjoy Rule’s airy, tip-toes in the dark take on Toro y Moi’s sexy, funk-laden jam ‘So Many Details.’ Check out my previous post on this DC newcomer HERE . Really digging what he’s putting down, and I hope you are too. This track is a free DL via his Soundcloud .

Rules is a DC area producer who's recently released a self-titled EP. The three tracks are slow and subdued, at times becoming hypnotic and chant-like. Warped vocal samples are always intriguing to me, and here there is just enough clarity to keep you listening for more. It's perfect for rainy days in the season of contemplation. Rules is a new Washington DC-based producer that drenches his beats in a sample-heavy, dark and r&b-infused sound. This is probably what witches get down to whenever they gather. Something for fans of The Weeknd and Clams Casino topped with a balearic CFCF sauce. Stunning debut release, in particular the opening track Telepathy of his self-titled debut EP, available on his Bandcamp .

Fast Company 's current issue features this nifty and useful crowdsourced infographic of the supposed 'rules' of social media. It's a good read for anyone trying to understand 'social' for their business (and there are oodles more nuggets of advice not included on the graphic). Have a look and download a PDF of the image below. I think no. 4 above is possibly the sagest 'rule' but I'm also conscious of this: "My Rule No. 1: Be wary of social [...]
