In January, the marvelous website couchsurfing.org brought us a terrific set of houseguests: a couple from the beaches of California asked to stay in my home while they came to Colorado to pick up the due-any-day baby that they had just been chosen to be the adoptive parents of. For two weeks we got to host them and their brand new little guy, all wide eyes and stretching fingers. It was, in a word, magnificent. We forget that they make people that little, that new. Light as air and just about perfect. As I am wont [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive , Holy Hell Getty Images Sarah McLachlan , the 40 million-selling, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, seems like she's led a charmed life. Certainly her adulthood -- aside from an unfortunate divorce that she spoke to us about last year -- has been fortuitous since she launched her acclaimed career back in 1988. But McLachlan's teenage years, like many of ours, were anything but charmed as the aspiring singer says she was [...]
2012 has begun. Deal with it. We've looked into our crystal ball and come up with a few things we think would happen this year, besides you know, the apocalypse. Here we go! Seeing the success of Kanye and Jay-Z's Watch The Throne collaboration, Canadian rappers Shad and K-os will collaborate on an album as well, only to realize that Ni**as in Paris,Ontario doesn't have the same power The declining American economy forces Ke$ha to change her name to K€sha Doctors are shocked when Beyonce does not give [...]

Put down those sticks and stones. I'm about to say something that may result in tons of criticism, if not outright broken bones. I am not in love with Adele. There, I said it. Don't let me be misunderstood: Man cannot live on Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears alone, and for that, I will be eternally grateful to Adele for making the Top 10 classy again. When the dust of the 2010s settles sometime around the summer of 2020, "Rolling in the Deep" will go down as [...]

One of our favorite summer venues is in full swing with their series of shows and we have another great pair of shows to kick off the weekend. Sarah McLachlan plays a pair of shows with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra...

Rather than start this post about the Telluride Bluegrass Festival with a picture of an amazing headliner like Mumford & Sons, or the surprise stellar guests like Patty Griffin, I'm going to share that view up above instead: a cell phone snap taken while I sat inside my tent and looked out the zippered door. I think it captures something about this festival that you need to know, as foundation. As enticement to come next year. I pitched my tent on slanty ground, deciding to sleep on river rocks just so that [...]
