I'm still to fully buy into The Weeknd ; whilst I can appreciate his production skills, it's clear he has a long way to go before he reaches the same level with his overall product as Drake . Anyway, this fantastic cover by Orlando musician SASKATCHEWAN is well worthy of hearing, ditching the sleazy atmosphere and turning The Morning into a delicate, dreampop gem. On Monday we brought you the wonderful 'Youth Ministry' demo from Saskatchewan , and now we have something a little bit different, though ultimately just as good. It's probably sacrilegious to say this is better than the original, but it really is. All the sentiment, without the croon. If you like this cover, check out their version of 'Last Christmas' by Wham, or wait another 10 months when it's relevant again, totally up to you.
We've spoken positively about the Orlando based quintet Saskatchewan quite a few times on the site before, but this demo of 'Youth Ministry' really does stand out as one of their finest moments to date. It's like they've crept into a mid 80's coming of age film and recorded every reverb soaked moment of joy and pain in sight, given it a name, and uploaded it to Soundcloud. Wonderful. Truly wonderful.
