Words by Jacob Barron And now, a list of things heard on "Intro," the first song on M83 's most recent, gorgeously overblown album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming , in chronological order: low foundational groaning, dancing 80s synths, spoken-through-a-desk-fan spoken word, quotes that sound like they were taken from the voiceover in a Terence Malick movie ( The Tree of Life especially), shouted vocals from an historically timid vocalist, harmonies that sound welded together, soaring electronic whines, digital drum rolls, Zola motherfucking Jesus ' viscerally androgynous voice, glockenspiel, [...]

THROWBACK TUESDAYS (WEEK 5) M83 's anthemic and uplifting "Graveyard Girl" off of their 2008 release Saturdays = Youth holds a special place in my heart. The 80s synth-pop inspired track is one of the catchiest tunes on the album. Filled with breath-taking synth pads, which create an airy atmosphere, listeners feel a sense of nostalgia of their younger days. The song definitely holds true to the album title. The talk-break at 2:07 is unique and a perfect transition into the bridge. Images of sunlight breaking through [...]

Tweet Listen to M83 's new album "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming" below. One of the most anticipated albums of the year, if not the decade (I know, we're only in the second year of the decade, but still), is being released next week on October 18th. Previous cuts from the album "Intro" and "Midnight City" ,have given us glorious glimpses into how the 22-track-monster might sound M832s "Hurry [...]
Huzzah! M83 has seen fit to drop a track from its forthcoming double album, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming . The track is titled "Midnight City," and it's streaming right now via SoundCloud . It's also downloadable on M832s website . If "Midnight City" is any indicator, this album is going to be one of 20112s more sizable and ambitious pop albums. October might be too late to actually restore my faith in this year's pop output, but I'll wait contently if all the songs are this good. The anthemic melody and hard-hitting synthetic [...]
As for the latest from M83, Ladies and Gentlemen….. " Echoes ", an ambient escapade paired with random studio objects and the visual opulence of nature. This video literally screams for attention, begging the question: What is the follow up to Saturdays = Youth ? We will know sometime in October, and by means of a compilation Anthony Gonzalez describes as "very, very, very epic". Echoes is the teaser we get to tickle our brains with in the mean time…. M83 has remained somewhat under the radar, revealing few hints towards the future. [...]
I think I just got a tingle! ilovem83.com

There's some freaky tribal stuff going on in this remix from our good Brooklyn buddy and Party Like Us Records member Udachi and his sometimes airy, sometimes deep, deep dubstep treatment of Anthony Gonzales aka M83 's "We Own The Sky", off of the band's latest effort, Saturdays = Youth . It'll make you jump out of your chair and raise your fists towards the almighty whatever and that's just the sort of thing we all need for morning. Or evening. Or night.
I am in an M83 mood and I happened to discover this fan made video for "We Own the Sky." Also, I'm aware that several of our readers are M83 fans. After the long and arduous process of watching all the entries for the "We Own the Sky" video contest, a winner has been chosen. Congratulations to Young Replicant! Their entry has been chosen as the official video for "We Own the Sky" by M83. Young Replicant is a teenage director's label and design collective hailing from Los Angeles. It consists ...

NEW M83 EP Coinciding with the release of the newest single from M83 's seminal Saturdays = Youth "We Own the Sky" Anthony Gonzalez is releasing an EP with an exclusive remix of "Graveyard Girl" and an excellent new track entitled "Je Vous Hais Petites Filles". Definitely some awesome, retro M83 action, check the mp3s out below! M83 - "Je Vous Hais Petites Filles" M83 - "Graveyard Girl (Parkerlab's Dusted Remix)" [...]

I recently stumbled across this little music video for M83's "We Own The Sky". It's an interesting video that looks like it was a lot of fun to make. The production is very crisp - appears as if it was shot with an HD cam. What they did with the climax and ending is really fantastic. M83 - We Own The Sky

M83's Anthony Gonzalez talks about how being a teenager and 80's movies influence his music on the record Saturdays=Youth . "Graveyard Girl:" "You Appearing:" "Couleurs:" "We Own The Sky:"

After learning that M83 is scheduled to open for The Killers during their Calgary stop, I felt it necessary to acquaint myself with the French dream-pop band's latest album Saturdays = Youth . The song that really stood out for me on the album was the second single Graveyard Girl , released on April 8, 2008. The song is a fine example of the style M83 employs, and conjures up images of a Brat Pack scene with two young lovers flirtatiously exploring a county fair together........or something along those lines. I suppose it doesn't have to [...]

I handed in my "Best Albums of the Year" list sometime in early December. But after reading other "Best of" lists , I realized I had missed quite a few critically acclaimed albums. This includes most of the albums featured here, on both Adam and Bradley's lists. So I put together another list: "Albums From Best Of 2008 Lists That I Haven't Heard and Want to Check Out." I whittled this down to another list, "Albums From That Previous List That I'd Actually Buy Without Hearing Another Note." This was a tricky list, [...]

One of 2008's best, their album Saturdays = Youth is one worth revisiting. M83 - Kim & Jesse

Best Records Of 2008, #7 - M83 Saturdays=Youth Mute Release Date: 04.15.08 With Saturdays=Youth , M83 (aka Anthony Gonzalez) decided to forego the 80s references and instead, just take us back to the decade with an album of nostalgic fondness. Like the soft-focused mythology of eternal summers and young love of a John Hughes movies, Gonzalez dedicates our pick for seventh best album of 2007 to "all the friends, music, movies, joints, and crazy teachers that made my teenage years so great!" Or as contributor Kim Robinson put it, the layered synths of [...]
Love (<) The Ettes - Look At Life Again Soon Fuzzy distortion punky groove rock. This album sounds similar to their first album, but that's just fine, because their first album was pretty darn good. They remind me of The Raveonettes on Whip It On, meaning it's very stylized and intentional sounding. They know what works for them, and they're gonna milk it for all it's worth. The Ettes - To Arms Born Ruffians [...]

It's been a pretty amazing year for music around the UK, and following on from my top 10 of 2007 , here is my top 10 of 2008. 10 - Viva Stereo - Roar Lion Roar You've probably not heard much about this Scottish collective. However, their third album was a surprise favourite for me - anthemic, accessible, slightly My Bloody Valentine and yet still so gorgeous. Read more about Viva Stereo here . Favourite: Knee High Boots . [...]
