I'm not sure what the indie community thinks of Say Anything. I'm more inclined to group them with the emo movement of the early '00s. Say Anything will release "Burn A Miracle" , the first single from Anarchy, My Dear on December 20th. You can stream a preview of it over at Amazon now. Not always a good idea to judge these with so little to go on but it sounds like a pretty normal track by SA's standards. The new album is currently rumored to be scheduled for release in March.
