Noah contacted me through the blog ... and I immediately actioned the dopeness that is about to unfold before your eyes : This 8 piece band fronted by Noah Sacré, complete with brass ensemble delivers some crazy 602s style Hip-Hop music. The band is called Almighty Planets . They currently have a cover version of SBTRKT 's 'Wildfire' on show and plenty more in the pipeline. So much more in fact it's heart breaking to find out they're waiting a proper release for their material. Rightfully, the cool dudes are keeping it under wraps. [...]

South London masked producer SBTRKT released a new tune just a few hours ago called "Terminal." You know it is going to be fresh as he mixes in dance/electronic/electro into one cohesive sound. This is also the first new song we've heard from him in a bit as well, but everyone can naturally assume he was working on new stuff. Stream the brand new cut below. Via Complex Fresh? [...]

Not four hours ago SBTRKT dropped a new chill dance song on his SoundCloud. Certainly not massive material, this summery track is perfectly suited for a house party full of friends and joints. SBTRKT - GLOSS by sbtrkt

New from SBTRKT - "Gloss". This is a beautiful track. I feel that SBTRKT's inner child may have wrote this tune. There's a sweet naivety to the vibe. • SBTRKT [FB] STREAM | SBTRKT - Gloss Posted by Celebrity Sex Tape.

UK music producer SBTRKT spontaneously shares some new sounds as he's getting back into the studio to get some new material together. This guy came out with one of my favorite albums of last year , so, of course, I'm excited to hear what he'll come up with next. I'm also curious as to how his production will hold up if he incorporates less vocal features on his forthcoming release, because it can't be denied that vocalists like Sampha helped make SBTRKT's debut LP what it is. In a big way. If "Gamelena" is a [...]

Destination: Charlotte, North Carolina ... Flight path: Jon Meneses aka Joneses. Putting together an undulating and shadowy dark & stagey anxiety; which crescendos into a xylophone pressure of black mini skirt sexiness and cooker pressure electrified-steam, up & comer Joneses eases this creation out from SBTRKT’s Original skilfully. Emotionally stimulating and charged with inner tears and uplifting sadness, Joneses generates another production care of Crystal Castles’ ‘Violent Dreams.’ Elated bliss has arrived in four interesting examples forthwith. One to watch, for sure. [...]

I threw a few Qs at Benson - a young DJ/Producer based in Melbourne Australia, doing some wicked things. Benson's work has been signed to such labels as Sweat It Out, Jump To This, Vicious, Ministry Of Sound, One Love, Bakehaus, OMG!, Sony BMG, Suckmusic, Trouble Makers, and Fanatic. He's 22 years old. PBJ: Tell us about when and how you got into producing. B: I had been DJing for about 2 years before I decided that I would get into production. I was finding it hard to get gigs in the area I was living [...]

For those who are unfamiliar, What So Not are a Sydney-siding production duo consisting of Chris Emerson (Emoh Instead) and Harley Streton (Flume). Together, they are responsible for one of my favourite club releases of 2011, 7 Dollar Bill EP . They are giving away their club edit of the SBTRKT anthem "Pharaohs". The re-rub allows for a handy extended intro/outro, and features bright flourishes of sequenced 8 bit, a rejuvenated kick and a few subtle percussive nuances and synth work that will keep the djs happy. I recently caught up with Emerson, to [...]

Disclosure are my new fav for bassy, future funky house. "Tenderly" is a romantic awakening for bass tunes: A soulful vocal sample that beckons you into that rhythmic hip house flavour before it hits a percussive drop, laden with steel drums, broken kick, clicks and cow bell. Super stylish and highly accessible without compromising that juicy bass that pounds into your chest. Turn it up. "Flow" is a fireworks display of synth chords, bass pulses, and electric keys circa 1990. They really know how to nail the vocal selection and arrangement - it's got me really curious if [...]
