It's Tuesday and that means relentless 8082s to the face from some of the biggest names in the Trap game. Starting with a Festival worthy remix from Party Favor of Birdy Nam Nam 's track "Jaded Future", sampling some catchy rap lines with massive booming synths. Aylen remixes the classic James Bond "007 Theme" and features some epic samples from the movie and re-works this one flawlessly. So I slept on SBTRKT . Then a friend told me I should really check him out. I didn't. I'm not very smart. Then I saw this video and even my apparently feeble brain was able to figure out something interesting was happening. SBTRKT's minimal beat is a perfect counterpart to Sampha's twitching falsetto and the video's haunting scene punctuates it all perfectly. But then there is this Joneses remix that Joel posted a while back which adds a sticky layer of groove to the original and further confirms that I have some serious catching up to do. [...]
