Introducing Raise The Dead! Language, the new project from Sean Hoots

Sean Hoots , the "Hoots" in Hoots And Hellmouth , has a new project called Raise The Dead! Language . Direct from Sean's website, here's what he has to day: It is with great pleasure that I announce the official release of Raise The Dead! Language: Volume 1. It's not really a band, per se…just me fiddling with loops (electronic, vocal and found sound) to create soundscapes suitable for many types of listening situations – long walks on the beach, yoga class, drives down desert highways, meditation retreats, slow roasting red peppers [...]

Introducing Raise The Dead! Language, the new project from Sean Hoots (ex-Hoots & Hellmouth)

Sean Hoots put the "Hoots" in Hoots & Hellmouth but when he left the band last summer to pursue teaching fans were curious about what, if any, musical direction he would pursue. The first answer to that question is a new project he calls Raise The Dead! Language . Direct from Sean's website here's what he has to day: It is with great pleasure that I announce the official release of Raise The Dead! Language: Volume 1. So, between the 2 stages there were performances by: Jack Ohly [...]

HOOTS & HELLMOUTH - THE HOLY OPEN SECRET

HOOTS & HELLMOUTH - THE HOLY OPEN SECRET Hoots & Hellmouth is a trio from Philadelphia consisting of Sean Hoots, Andrew 'Hellmouth' Gray and Robert Berliner, with Sean and Andrew Gray being the primary songwriters/singers, and The Holy Open Secret is their sophomore effort. The Holy Open Secret was recorded at Philadelphia's American Diamond Studio with Bill Moriarity (Dr. Dog, Man Man) sharing the producing credits, and what an interesting cd they birthed. Quirky, catchy and an all around good time, it only falters when the band tries to settle into a more traditional sound/feel. There are sounds and influences galore [...]

Show Review: The Heartless Bastards/Hoots and Hellmouth @ Great Scott, Boston, MA (2-3-09)

Show Review: The Heartless Bastards/Hoots and Hellmouth @ Great Scott, Boston, MA (2-3-09) A new soundman every night. The members of Hoots and Hellmouth are drinking away the stress of the van ride from Philadelphia, preparing to take the stage at any moment as snow continues to pile up outside when Sean Hoots, one fourth of Hoots and Hellmouth and one third of its vocal harmony, tells me about the interesting sensation of baring one's sound (and soul) every night, not just once but twice. Once being to an audience obviously, but before that, before the audience even arrives, you have to do it for an audience of one, an [...]
