Porcelain Raft released another self-directed video today for the song "Something In Between" off his new album Strange Weekend , released last week on the always reliable Secretly Canadian imprint. I don't want to gush too much over this album, but it's definitely the strongest debut I've heard thus far in 2012. There's a link to my full review of the album over at Passion of the Weiss below. Porcelain Raft's Mauro Remiddi is a busy guy when it comes to making videos. His latest is for "Something In Between", the B-side to his forthcoming single "Unless You Speak From Your Heart" out February 21st through Secretly Canadian. Watch the new video below and see what Remiddi had to say about it. Read more »

Porcelain Raft releasd a video for the b-side, Something In Between , off his upcoming Unless You Speak From Your Heart 73. The 73 is scheduled for release on February 21st via Secretly Canadian . From Mauro regarding the video: A few months ago I filmed the billboard you see at the beginning of the video. I forgot about those images I took until a week ago, while driving back after filming the video for 'Unless You Speak From You Heart', we saw the same exact billboard [...]

The offhand, distracted brilliance of Here We Go Magic's "Make Up Your Mind" raises just one question; was Nigel Godrich the genius, or was Radiohead? Because this, Here We Go Magic's first revealed material with Mr Godrich, stinks of all those wonderful Radiohead-associated qualities; the disinterested, yet sharp, lyrics, the linear structure with subtle progressions and eccentric additions, the irony that a song that is essentially so simple just feels so different; the wonderful untrodden territory that nobody had thought to tred. Maybe. Probably not. But as Here We Go Magic's three guitars walk all over each other like a [...]

Even though we're all about things electronic we still get a swift music-semi from kraut-rock led synth tracks like that of "Make Up Your Mind" from Brooklyn (of course) band Here We Go Magic . The forthcoming album 'A Different Ship' was produced by Radiohead 6 th member Nigel Godrich who became a big fan after watching their set at the 2010 Glastonbury Festival, accompanied by Thom Yorke who tipped him off. "Make Up Your Mind" is kind of like a night out with Battles and [...]

Ramona Gonzalez, aka Nite Jewel , will release her second full-length on March 6. One Second of Love marks her debut for the Secretly Canadian label, and from what we've heard so far, the sound is very different from her 2009 record Good Evening . For example, check out the brand new track "In the Dark" below. Hear more new tracks at NiteJewel.com .

Luke Temple is no stranger to ATG. The evidence is clear : we like his style. Temple and his cohorts from Here Were Go Magic are back with a brand new song from their upcoming album, A Different Ship . Their class of psychedelic electro-folk is in full effect on "Make Up Your Mind." Temple sings has if he is struggling to contain himself, slowly releasing tension at the end of the chorus. It is one long crescendo that would be perfect for a daylong montage crammed into four minutes. MP3: Here [...]

Nite Jewel, el proyecto de Ramona Gonzales nos presenta "In The Dark", el tercer sencillo de su próxima producción One Second Of Love . El nuevo disco sale el próximo 3 de marzo en Secretly Canadian.

Aaron Frank has returned after a few strange weekends writing for the LA Weekly . Throughout its many manifestations, synth-pop has always suffered from similar shortcomings. While readily apparent in the most recent generation of artists, the Achilles' heel of almost every latest, greatest synth-pop act is their failure to make a human connection through creative songwriting. From techo's explosion over the last 20 years, we know it's relatively easy to make someone dance with a nice melodic synth riff, but bringing someone to tears or forcing them to ponder their existence proves [...]

Does Luke Temple ever sleep? It really doesn't seem that way. The guy is constantly recording, touring, and putting out new music as a solo musician and with his steady outfit Here We Go Magic . This new tune "Make Up Your Mind" features a pretty funky beat on top of the typical Temple/HWGM chanting verses. A new album from the band, A Different Ship , is due out May 8th on Secretly Canadian . Download: Here We Go Magic - Make Up Your Mind [MP3]

Honest to God, there's definitely something in the Brooklyn water. 9 times out of 10, if your press release even alludes to the word, it's worth a listen/look. After an EP last January, aptly titled The January EP , Brooklyn's Here We Go Magic have announced details of a new LP to be released via Secretly Canadian on May 8th. For an idea of this record's potential, it was produced by Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich . He became smitten with the group after catching their 2010 set at Glastonbury Festival [...]

The album was produced by Nigel Godrich, who is the long-time producer of Radiohead and considered their 6th member by man. The first track from the album is the funky Make Up Your Mind that we have for you to stream and download. A Different ship is set [...]

It is often easy to loose track, quite literally, when listening to a record fuelled with drifting echoes and sweeping vocals but Porcelain Raft's latest record manages to capture the elements of both its compiled genres, being electronic and pop, and fuse it together nicely without straying too far into either. If ever you've listened to previous material or caught a glimpse of any of the musi... Read more..

Earlier this month, we told you about Fanfarlo 's video for "Shiny Things". Well, we have some more shiny news. Yeasayer (on intermission) lent their unique Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel sound to the pop track, toning the original down in all the right places. It's infused with synth and talkbox vocals, leaving no doubt as to who constructed the retake. If you want some more cool stuff from Fanfarlo, go to their site and check out their superb live sessions, which can only build more excitement for Rooms Filled with Light, [...]
The War On Drugs ' video for "Brothers" takes a hostage situation to delightfully creepy heights. Dubbed a "western nightmare" by directors/brothers Ben and Alex Brewer, the video features a gun-toting geriatric, scenes from old Westerns and plenty of duct tape. Shades of "No Country for Old Men" come through, fitting perfectly with the band's atmospheric brand of americana-tinged rock. It ends, like a good episode of 24, with the viewer wondering what will happen next. Slave Ambient is out now on Secretly Canadian . STREAM: The War On Drugs [...]

New Music Now The Class of 2012 INTRODUCING - Porcelain Raft is the ethereal pop project of singer-songwriter Mauro Remiddi. We like him not only for the otherworldly sonic meanderings but for the fact that Remiddi, who turns 39 this year - is so productive. I believe the man has produced nearly a handful of EPs and a full-length [...]
The War On Drugs just released an incredible new video for "Brothers" off of their latest effort, Slave Ambient . I have to admit I was a bit of a late bloomer on coming around to The War On Drugs, but now there is no looking back. The War on Drugs - Brothers from Secretly Jag on Vimeo .
The War On Drugs released a new video for their song Brothers . The video tells the story of an old man with an obsession with Old Westerns that leads him over the edge to the point of kidnapping and terrorizing a young girl. The cinematography of the video perfectly matches dark undertones in the storyline. Watch below. Slave Ambient is out now on Secretly Canadian . MP3 : War On Drugs - Come To The City [...]
