It's that time of the year again when music blogs worldwide take a few paragraphs to discuss their favourite albums of the year and make a comprehensive list out of it; who are we to break the trend, so without ... Continue reading

It's July. So that means that we have less than a month before one of the biggest lineups the country has ever seen hits Byron Bay for this year's Splendour In The Grass installment. But before we paint our dad's van, buy one of those inflatable palm trees and spend $300 on goon bags and orange juice in anticipation for the festival - we decided to take one last look at the bill. And whilst we already knew that the massive headliners, such as Bloc Party, Jack White and [...]
On the Shins' fourth album, the band bring some newer, bigger production to the table. However, the band doesn't exactly present the energy or personality to make these ambitious sounds exciting. WATCH THE REVIEW
The SHINS performed SIMPLE SONG on the David Letterman show. And then if you loved that, we you will, you can watch their full webcast via a QUEER .

Prior to washing up here in the Port of Morrow, The Shins' fourth studio full-length and first to be named after Boardman, Oregon's port authority frontman James Mercer found himself at the forefront of many a musical endeavour. From catching the imagination tail of Danger Mouse and ringing them Broken Bells , to teaming up with Isaac Brock of nominally, similarly murine fame to soundtrack Chris Malloy's 180º South and furthermore engraving himself into the silver screen itself in Matt McCormick's Some Days Are Better Than Others, it remains rather safe to say that Mercer's been slacking [...]

"A record lacking in the one thing that made previous works quite so charming: personality.." The Shins | Port of Morrow There aren’t many indie kingpins that could, having slowly wooed critics and fans alike with three glorious albums, ditch the rest of the band and its label (Sub Pop), record a ‘side project’ album with one of the most sought after knob twiddlers in the business and then, when finally they do get back to their day job employ former producer of Lily Allen and Britney Spears, all without so much as a [...]

The Shins are back, people; and that's something to get really excited about. After an absence of more than five years since 20072s "Wincing The Night Away" , we're finally getting a new full-length effort from the band, "Port of Morrow" , which is out on March 19 via Aural Apothecary (which [...]
The Shins - First new music from James Mercer and The Shins since 2007's more subdued Wincing the Night Away as Mercer took a break to work with Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton on their 2010 project Broken Bells ...Producer Greg Kurstin (The Bird and The Bee, Lily Allen, Sia) helps keep Mercer's adventurous songs fresh and vibrant, the sweet/tart indie/pop melodies hitting like a shot of Wellbutrin straight to the bloodstream // Release : Port of Morrow (March 20, Columbia/Aural Apothecary) // Sounds like : pretty much [...]
With The Shins set to release their new album Port of Morrow on March 20th, they got an early jump on previewing it for the world as they dropped by Saturday Night Live on March 10th. They played two new songs 'Simple Song & 'It's Only Life', off the new album. It is sure nice to have these guys back after a 5 year break. Check out their upcoming tour schedule here .

"Simple Song" by The Shins.

We are looking forward to their new album out March 20 Live from Portland, Oregon this month, for a preview of the album, Port of Morrow , out March 20th
The Shins offered their video for 'Simple Song' as a free download this week on itunes. Now the video is available everywhere and gets you all set up for the release of the Port of Morrow album. The video was directed by Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan.
Plenty has changed with The Shins in the five years since the release of their last studio album. The Portland-via-New Mexico-based act , has essentially become the sole property of lead singer James Mercer, who replaced the rest of the band with all new members. On March 20, Mercer & Co. will release their fifth studio album, Port of Morrow , which coincidentally will also be their major label debut. Earlier this week The Shins released the Wes Anderson-inspired music video for the album's first single - Simple Song. Let's check it out... [...]
Shins frontman James Mercer doesn't strike me as having the greatest sense of humour in the world - he sacked his entire band before they set about recording forthcoming album Port Of Morrow. 'Simple Song' is the first single off the album and gets a hilarious video to accompany it.. [Read more]
“Simple Song” es el nuevo vídeo de The Shins , y de una canción que hace las veces de primer sencillo para el que es su último trabajo, Port Of Morrow . El disco no sale hasta finales de marzo, pero el single lleva ya más de un mes disponible, y ahora se complementa con un vídeo. En el metraje podemos ver a James Mercer y a la grabación de su testamento / última voluntad, unas palabras que no tienen otro destinatario que su hijo, interpretado por el resto de la banda. El desarrollo y [...]
Here's the new video from Portland's The Shin's "Simple Song" off Port of Morrow , out March 30th.
Filed under: News , Video , New Music Tim Mosenfelder/Getty Images The Shins ' five-year break from recording and frontman James Mercer 's involvement in his Broken Bells project with Danger Mouse led many of us to think that the band wasn't coming back. With that in mind, it's funny in a non-haha way that their video for 'Simple Song,' which announces their resurrection, begins with a fictional message about Mercer's [...]
