The album has clear 4AD influences as it was mixed by John Fryer (Lush, NIN, Depeche Mode) with artwork by the label's legendary designer V232s Vaughan Oliver (Pixies, Bauhaus). DLE just returned from their east coast tour with Slumberland band Lorelei and played SXSW supporting The Ocean Blue and the Warlocks. They will also be playing TOBs sold out NY show in June. Look for DLE in April on the West Coast playing with Beach Fossils and the Telescopes at The [...]

Schn gedreht in bunten Farbe. Einer von vielen tollen Songs von Album. Wer Beach House, Portishead und Crystal [...]
Somebody did the world a favor and posted the debut 10” vinyl EP, Houdini Aubergine (2004), from Swedes Mustafa Et Monique . This is stuff on par, if not better at times, than the new MBV album that dropped in February. Fans of Swirlies will also love this to death. Looks like you can still order this gem over at Oscillatone . If anyone has digital files of this record then please hit me up. Tracklisting: [...]

Ummagma have rather caught our fancy over here at Echoes and Dust with their beautiful blend of Shoegaze and Dream Pop harking back to the glory days of 4AD. To find out a bit more about them we asked singer Shanua McLarnon to tell us more of their story. By Dan Salter

It's dark. Big surprise, I know. Last Gang Records, 2013 6.4 / 10 Dark Horses deserve points for getting across what kind of music they make. Couple their name with the title of...

Ying and yang, the rush and the wait. The pull of the full moon. All of these things reflect the pull and push that sometimes comes with one’s musical cravings. The You And What Army Faction - James Letdown, Triple Six The dark, slow burning chords of a blurred figure, the haunting vocals of a threatening lyricist, the rocking and heavy jam of a song that influences you whether you want it or not and a band rooted in Greece determined to leave their mark and forces you to remember them! The You And What Army Faction ’s James Letdown, Triple Six is a staggering and sinister, painted in black psychedelic rock triumph with all [...]
The start of this track sounds like something from a Julianna Barwick album, however this is the work of R. Thomasin, a new artist who crafts catchy and ethereal songs from dreampop, shoegaze, and electronic influences. She comes from Boston, USA ... Continue reading

This weekend my latest romance came off the rails and went wrong; they always seem to go wrong. Sometimes I wonder if they'll always go wrong, if I'm just spectacularly unlucky, if I lack something. But at other times I tell myself to keep trying: that my own little slice of wonder is still out there, waiting to be found. That's exactly how I feel listening to Mt. Wolf 's soothing new song - peaceful, pacified. For more Mt. Wolf, read Indie Shuffle's interview with the quartet, and listen in full [...]
With Stockholm offering such a big and versatile music scene you tend to overlook such pretty newcomer bands like LET'S SAY WE DID. Thank god, it's one of NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION's specialities to look a bit closer and give such fine acts a certain room. TEEPEE + Low Man + Nox Boys / Mr Roboto Project 04.10.2013 / Doors 7:00 / $6 presented by DUL + Monalloh Foundry Words by Brendan There's no shortage of extremely talented bands out there in the world, and I'm always grateful when they find their way to my ears. I got an email from TEEPEE a while back looking to fit Pittsburgh in their tour schedule. So, I clicked a link, streamed some songs [...]

Weekend was probably the most convincing force to come out of San Francisco’s recent shoegaze revival, with "Mirror", the first single from their upcoming album, Jinx, however, the band ends up sounding more closely related to post/punk bands of the early 80s. They’ve borrowed their delay and chorus from The Cure while incorporating some of the intensity and distortion of Joy Division yet the track avoids being labeled ‘derivative’ due to the way it all comes together. Interrupted by sharp attacks from the drums and shoegaze breakdowns the murky mix is navigated by Shaun Durkan’s nearly transparent vocals fighting constantly [...]

I can't stop playing these two songs from Allston, Massachusetts post-punk trio Young Adults' latest EP Born in '91. Known for the angsty brand of shoegaze glazed rock, Young Adults have finally returned with new music after a three year hiatus since 2010's Black Hole. The new EP features five tight songs that showcase the band's notable speaker blowing sound that constantly grinds on your inner ear. The entire EP is solid, but Born in '91 caught my attention with its pop [...]

San Francisco's Here Come The Saviours bust out the shoegazer 'Hit Escape' from their #1 single ( free download here ). Word on the street is, if you put this tune on a mix tape for a "lady friend"... you'll score big! Its yet to be proven but please give it a go. Can't hurt. Were I stranded in an endless desert with nothing but a strand-addled Discman for company while I were left with nothing to do but lose my marbles one by one with every minute seeming a year and my tongue increasingly becoming coarse as sandpaper, I'd want desert rock to play on in the backdrop 'til my inevitable demise. And on that merry note, I'd perhaps opt for something somewhere or other along the dustbowl-rolling lines of Minneapolis thrash. pop. gaze trio Gospel Gossip who, led by Sarah Nienaber, whip up a quiet maelstrom of Americana, melancholia and infinite [...]
