Sigur Rós have recently announced details about their sixth studio album Valtari. You can listen to the first track to be released from Valtari, Ekki Múkk in the embedded Vimeo video below. To everyone's excitement yesterday, including mine, Sigur Ros dropped a release date for a new album along with a track from said album. The LP's title is Valtari , and it's looking at a May release. The teaser track, "Ekki Múkk," is contained in the video above, and it's a bit of a stunner. I'm not sure if we're still using the phrase "post-rock" to describe this band, but if we are, the crescendos they pump out are still some of the best in the genre. Prepare to be run over by the SIGUR ROS . That's because the title of their sixth studio long_one will be VALTARI , which allegedly translates (via google translator) to "steamroller" in English. The Icelandic experimental-poppers revealed the title of the upcoming set in a recent interview with Q Magazine, in which they also described the sound of the album as "dreamy" and "introverted", among other adjectives.
