Sigur Ros have revealed another new video for their Valtari film series. The new video for " Dauðalogn " is directed by Rusian Fedotow. The film is in keeping with the theme of most of those in the series; it includes ample male nudity and emotional slow movements. If this were any other band I would probably be rolling my eyes by now but, honestly, what else would you expect to be inspired by this kind of music? Watch the classic Sigur Ros [...]

Icelandic dreamers Sigur Rós are still making videos for their Valtari Film Experiment, in which every song from their new album gets a video treatment from a different visual artist. The latest, for "Dauðalognm," is a slow, tender, atmospheric thing, in which one man carries another man - a naked man - through a misty forest and waits by his hospital bed. There's a ton of nudity, but I'm pretty sure no schlongs are exposed, so you should be OK watching it at work, provided you work in a suitably liberal environment. Ruslan Fedotow directs. It's below. The penultimate entry in Sigur Rós ' " Valtari Mystery Film Experiment " sees director Ruslan Fedotow musing on the relations between human beings and, more specifically, gender boundaries. In what was named the winner of the People's Choice award, the video uses powerful atmospheric imagery to evoke thoughts of gender, sexuality, and the various connections linking human beings to one another. The result is a striking and effective visual collage. Watch it above. On October 12th, Sigur Rós will announce the winner of the Band's Choice award—as well as the final video in the "Valtari Mystery [...]

Lately, we seem to be having on-weeks and off-weeks for videos, and this was an off-week. Last week brought a deluge, and this week, things have slowed down a bunch. But even in the off-weeks, there are plenty of absorbing visions floating around out there, and we've got five of them below Read More...

What do Aidan Gillen (Tommy Carcetti from vaunted TV show The Wire ), a talking snail, and a fox have in common? Not much before the release of “Ekki Múkk,” the latest video in Sigur Rós ’s ongoing Mystery Film Experiment. Gillen plays a man, guided by a talking snail, who stumbles upon an injured fox and attempts to rescue it. The result is quintessential Sigur Rós, equal parts beauty and grotesquerie-a fitting accompaniment for the band's typical melancholic grandeur. Although there is no naked Shia LaBeouf this time (sorry ladies), “Ekki Múkk,” proves to be [...]

Even though Sigur Rós's ongoing Mystery Film Experiment has given the world some pretty odd footage - like, you know, the clip where Shia LeBeouf gets naked - the clip for " Ekki Múkk " might be the strangest yet. And that's not to say the result isn't completely entrancing and dramatic - in it, the actor Aidan Gillen (Tommy Carcetti in The Wire , Littlefinger from Game Of Thrones ) and a talking snail come across an injured fox, leading to a grisly yet beautiful climax. It's the circle of life . And it [...]

Sigur Ros: Website / Myspace [...]
As part of their on going 'Valtari Mystery Film Experiment', Sigur Rós have unveiled yet another visual and this time it's for "Ekki múkk". The video is directed by Nick Abrahams and stars Aidan Gillen who you may recognise from The Wire as Tommy Carcetti or more recently as Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish in another HBO smash, Game of Thrones . Whatever you may or may not recognise him from, he plays a great little role in the video that also stars a snail voiced by Shirley Collins . Yes, a snail. It makes for [...]

Sigur Rós are now at number nine out of a total of twelve for their "Valtari Mystery Film Experiment", which sought to enlist the imaginations and creativity of twelve filmmakers and give them the opportunity to visually interpret a song from Valtari as they saw fit. This latest video takes a different approach than the others, though, going in an animated direction. Created by Dash Shaw and John Cameron Mitchell, the animated clip follows a troubled individual from his youthful beginnings to his violent prison sentence. Watch the replay above. The "Valtari Mystery [...]
Sigur Rós's Valtari Mystery Film Experiment, in which the majestic Icelandic band recruits different directors to make short films out of all the songs on their new album , marches on. The latest entry, for "Seraph," may be the most fully realized yet, despite its complete lack of Shia LaBeouf. This one is a cartoon about religiously motivated body horror, following a boy whose parentally-implanted fear of nudity causes him to carve eyeballs into his skin and make other questionable decisions. Dash Shaw directs, co-writing it with Hedwig And The Angry Inch creator [...]
