Our good friend and frequent TWJ contributor Cole has the good fortune to live in New York City, and the even greater fortune to attend a remarkable amount of concerts throughout the five boroughs every year. Since this year was filled with enjoyable shows, he decided to run down a list of his favorites he [...]

It's been a crazy summer. So crazy I no longer live in Vancouver. Amanda and I have returned to Sydney, Australia for the foreseeable future...more on that later I suppose as the show reviews roll in. But before we left Vancouver we managed to see some shows this summer. First up, we saw Florence + The Machine and The Walkmen at Deer Lake Park back in July. Amanda is a pretty big fan of Florence so this was a show that was definitely her bag. I went along knowing I'd at least [...]

Photo Credit: Andrew St. Clair 21 years after its inception, Lollapalooza is a festival that does most things right. For quite a while, it's been in a very convenient area and has an excellent line-up, even compared with competing fests such as Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Outside Lands. When done right, a great festival includes bands for everyone, and Lollapalooza does this to near perfection. Among the headliners: Jack White and Red Hot Chili Peppers , Justice , Kaskade , Bassnecter and Santigold [...]
Stereogum Over the weekend, thousands of fans flocked to this year's Outside Lands at Golden Gate Park. Overcast and chilly weather was offset by the fire from the Metallica pyrotechnics and warm vibes from festival attendees. Neil Young & Crazy Horse turned up their guitars to close out Friday, Metallica blew everyone away with their hellfire on Saturday, and Stevie Wonder dazzled with his barrage of hits to on Sunday. Some of the other highlights included Jack White's impromptu set in the midst of the trees, [...]

And so it all came down to this: the final day of Lollapalooza 2012. There was so much anticipation for the weekend, and it all came to a culmination on Sunday, August 5. I decided after the previous day's debacle, it was probably in my best interest to catch as much music as I could; sort of a 'don't take anything for granted' situation. Not only that, but Sunday was filled with a few of my favorite bands, new and old. [...]

Sunday, August 5 was a steady continuation of the current drought in the Midwest. The sun was high in a bleakly open sky. The park was sun-dried, putrefying the baseball fields and grass into a off-putting mud that rivaled Bonnaroo . And the night was set for the biggest acts of the entire weekend; Jack White and Justice . But more so than anything else on my mind was the imminent end of not only my weekend, but possibly my tenure at Lollapalooza . If it would be the final day - the truly final [...]
I'm off to San Francisco for Outside Lands and won't be back until Monday. For those of you unable to attend, stream the festival live (thanks to Tunein ) or enjoy the playlist below. Either way, hope you have a fantastic weekend, because I know I will.

Winner of Lollapalooza Sunday : Of Monsters and Men. Let me explain to you how amazing Of Monsters and Men are: I was bled on, copiously, by a stranger while waiting for this set to start, and yet I ended it with a ginormous grin on my face. They’re that good. Having read Ricky’s post in April about their show at the Phoenix Theater, I knew that I needed to experience the magic. Sure enough, approximately 20 seconds into their set, I already had that warm, fuzzy feeling in my stomach. Lead singers Hilmarsdóttir and ÞórhallssonI [...]

B3SCI land in SF on Friday to cover this weekend's awesome Outside Lands festival. The lineup is stacked this year and includes b3sci all-time faves Stevie Wonder and Neil Young (seriously, how will we be able to handle so much greatness in one weekend?) as well as a great undercard of other favorites of the blog; including, Michael Kiwanuka, Futurebirds, Tennis, Tame Impala, Birdy, Metallica (jk), Sharon Van Etten and more! Check out some of our recommendations below for this weekend's can't miss sets and must see bands & artists; and stay tuned for more coverage live from and following [...]

And that's a wrap! Lollapalooza 2012... 1:30 p.m.: Polica Photo by Richard Giraldi When Polica (that's Poe-Lisa) kicked off their early afternoon set, their shadowy dance vibes filled with dub beat seemed more fitting for a damp, dark club at two in the morning than a glorious Chicago summer day. But the band didn't seem to mind bathing in the slight warm sun and really got the early fest goers moving with their crawling, mud-thick basslines [...]

The countdown is on! Only two more days until I board a smelly bus at six in the morning in my attempt to get to Jean Drapeau Park in time to see The Walkmen . High hopes this one has. As the excitement for the festival builds, here is a playlist and preview of what thousands upon thousands of happy ears will be feasting upon. This post will be broken up in three, as the festival has now expanded to three days now. If you are reading this and wondering what the hell "Osheaga" is, well here's [...]

It still amazes me that I am going to Lollapalooza this year in Chicago. And now it's only a mere two weeks away. So it is my journalistic duty to attempt to encompass everything that I will be doing that weekend - from the food and drink, to the after parties, to the shows themselves. This will be a weekend to remember, and it's needless to say I probably won't be getting too much sleep from August 3-5. [...]

The daily lineups were finally announced (now all we need are some actual set times). Saturday is definitely the day not to miss. Which day are you most excited about? More at sfoutsidelands.com
Sorry for the delay, but here it is, the fourth and final post of my favorite albums of 2012 (so far). If I had to rank my favorite albums of the year today, at least three of the albums below would make the cut. But alas, I still have about 5 months to narrow it down, but please check back in December to see who makes the cut. If you haven't already, be sure to check out parts 1-3 ( part 1 // part 2 [...]

We're about halfway through the year 2012 and we've been provided with some unbelievably great albums thus far. We here at FPT have compiled our own individual lists and came up with a strange amalgam of albums that we each consider to be called "The Best of 2012" Below you will find a format which sets up a separate list for "Best Album of 2012" but dependent on how many of our individual writers included it in their list. Therefore, the more writers who included it on their list, the higher on this aggregate list it is. [...]
