Today I've got a track that's got a real unique sound. It's from Canadian based Silver Medallion, we've featured his . He's got a voice that reminds me of an 802s singer, in the best way possible. This electronic powered track starts off pretty chill, then continues to buildup, and finally drop the bass at 1:40. Feature Cuts was recruited for the production of it, and really killed it. It's a groove filled song, with clashing bass giving it some contrast. Turn it up, enjoy! Silver Medallion & Feature Cuts - Drop Gout, Kiss Girls [...]

Back in late 2010, when Lana Del Rey was still relatively unknown and blond, she made what was possibly her first European TV appearance on Mandio Diao 's MTV Unplugged show. Backed by the Swedish rock band themselves, Lana gave an acoustic rendition of "Chet Baker" , an obscure 2007 b-side named after the jazz legend. The show was later released on CD/DVD, and footage of her segment has been floating around since, but I only managed to discover it a couple days ago. Her voice was a good fit for the jazz-tinged track, [...]

Part disturbing, part brilliant Miike Snow releases the visuals from their upcoming lp ' Happy To You' which will see daylight on March 27th. Watch the video for 'Paddling Out' above, those twins continue to creep us out.

Way Yes is an alt-pop trio from Columbus that is characterized by a percussive energy that makes their music feel born out warmer and livelier climates than Ohio. The afro-pop influences are obvious, but when combined with the bright, nasal and vaguely juvenile vocal lines, Way Yes' sound is transformed into something that feels foreign yet familiar-like some sort of deep cut off an Animal Collective album. "Singing" is a track off their upcoming debut album, Walkability , and with the rich textures and tight mixing exhibited, we can extrapolate and guess that this is going to be a [...]

Legendary blues singer Etta James who is most famous for her rendition of "At Last" has passed away. Etta is one of the movers and shakers of pop history and no diva is the same without her legacy. Beyonce played her in Cadillac Records and she revolutionized her genre to another level. Sad to hear of her passing. She has passed away at the age of 73. Class Actress returns with some flirtatious visuals for latest single 'Bienvenue' from the album ' Rapprocher .' Watch the lovely Clement Gino and Gregory Faure directed video above. Lp is in stores now. Peace, love and Elizabeth Harper!

Chicago R&B artist BJ The Chicago Kid has worked hard to get to the place he's at now. It helped that he had a great 2011. He was featured on Freddie Gibbs, Pac Div, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q and multiple other artist's albums, establishing his voice as the standard for the ill hooks. He also released The Life Of Love's Cupid, which includes the track " Heartless ", one of my favorite records of the year. He went back to the West Coast to enlist THC Productions for "Dream II," expanding his work with Top [...]
Some 802s classic beats for you today. During a time when disco was dying hard a few people. like Bonnie Pointer, tried to revive it ti no avail. That is why many people nowadays are most nostalgic about an era that didn't get what it deserved. Still, this is a lesser hit from the early 80s' meander from disco to synth. Download album HERE If you're a fan of The Weeknd, you'll probably recognize the album title, as it's a song name from Thursday. Anyways, The Weeknd sampled the song " Cherry-Coloured Funk ", and I thought I should give the original song a listen. Turns out I loved the whole album. The amazing visual architecture behind Lana Del Rey's imaging is the sole purpose this singer is going to conquer the airwaves in 2012! Lana is unlike any other, she is a pop signer that sings slow haunting tracks with lazy vocals and an old hollywood charm. Related articles Lana Del Rey sings poolside at Chateau Marmont! Dixon. A man with a bottomless pit of taste and talent combined, or so it seems. His output could be described in many ways, prolific, consistent, professional. Whatever. Anybody who's listened to him before knows what I'm on about. This particular record has been well overdue for a release for a long time. Pressed to vinyl and released exclusively at Muting The Noise last month, it's been a long twenty three days wait. Finally released worldwide on 12.12.11 An emotional journey not for the faint of heart, but an excellent production as I've grown to expect. [...]

In late 2001, singer Julia Johnson and producer/bassist Mark Maclaine met, and early the following year formed the band Second Person. They spent the next two years writing material and playing gigs with a variety of musicians. Drummer Alvaro Lopez was recruited in mid 2004 and Second Person's debut album Chromatography was released later that year. It went on to sell out of its initial white-label run in the United Kingdom, USA and Australia. The band went on to record a live DVD at The Bedford in London and score music for a number of British broadcasters, including the BBC [...]
We know she has an amazing voice as demonstrated by her cover of Adele's "Someone Like You," but this song is not exactly stellar nor is it a great vehicle to portray one's vocal abilities. We had a wonderful performance at Oh! Inverted World a few months back from an artist known as I Am Harlequin , and today I Am Harlequin releases her awesome debut single, "The Liberty / The King's Daughter" which comes highly recommended from the OIW camp. Already proving to be a prolific songwriter in both range and ideas, Anne Frier's (aka I Am Harlequin) sophisticated, off-kilter arrangements owe as much to a classical background as to a veracious love of melody, forming stirring and unforgettable [...]

Adele has had to cancel more concert dates of her tour to promote 21 because of what is becoming a prolonged illness. Adele has been having issues with her voice and some have suggested that the leave was for vocal rest. But, it seems that the "it" girl of the moment is still not well. A statement from her record label explains: "It is with deep regret that Adele has been forced to cancel her remaining live dates and promotional appearances in 2011. She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat [...]

Soko tweeted her disapproval of a singer named Lana Del Ray on twitter and we couldn't help but YouTube her. What we found is an unsurpassed beauty with great pipes and haunting lyrics administrated with lazy vocals. A potent and somewhat new formula for her kind a music - a fusion between old-hollywood glamor with a strong jazz sensibility. After listening to "Yayo" and "Video Games" we have fallen in love with this lovely singer. She carries herself with poise and is not afraid to challenge the ideals of vocal rules with her sound. Genre cross-breads rarely sound so scrumptious [...]
I have, for a long time, had a slight personal issue with the concept of 'reviewing' music because of music's inherent nature of self-expression and my personal belief that no one should be able to tell another that their art is 'wrong.' That said, there are some albums; some bands; some genres; etc, which – by their very nature – tend to step outside of what's considered to be 'regular music.' Bill Orcutt, former guitarist of influential experimental group, Harry Pussy, has always existed on the more questionable side of that line. Free of vocals (save Orcutt's orgasmic [...]
