Tracklist-wise, The Singles Collection 2001-2011 may as well have been constructed by Wikipedia. The Singles Collection 2001-2011 is a mis-named, lazy compilation that neither offers a complete picture of Gorillaz as a (cartoon) band, nor makes the sorts of choices that will endear it to its audience rather than alienate it from that audience. On November 29th, Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their collaborative project Gorillaz with a singles collection that spans the entirety of their catalog. The Singles Collection: 2011-2011 will include 15-tracks spanning all three of their studio albums, as well as two remixes by Ed Case & Sweetie Irie and Soulchild. There have been rumors and reports of Gorillaz finally throwing in the towel , with mastermind Damon Albarn moving onto other projects, and it appears a mysterious tweet from cartoon bandmate Murdoc may have confirmed it: "Gorillaz are TEN. Ten years old, eh? T.E.N. What’s that stand for? The End is Nigh…!" (He later followed it up with a similar tweet, tweaking his acronym to mean "This Era's New!") If you follow Gorillaz's fictional band leader Murdoc on Twitter then you'll know that he starts to tweet rather cryptic things when something to do with the band is soon to be announced. This was pretty common last year around the time of Plastic Beach , but following the conclusion of that round of promotion things went quiet.
