Photo credit Metromix The beloved East Broadway music and art space, Skull Alley , announced today that they will be closing their doors for the final time on December 31st . Not only did Skull Alley boast an eclectic calendar, it served as one of the city's only established all-ages, DIY-style venues ( one we welcomed Marmoset and Invaders to in September 2009). While there were undoubtedly a variety of reasons the owners' made this difficult decision, the loss of a business that, in just over [...]

Checking in at Skull Alley tomorrow night is the Greensboro, NC band The Bronzed Chorus . They are a two-piece instrumental band that plays a blistering live set complete with tons of WTF-esque moments. Many of those moments come from Adam Joyce's monstrous guitar playing and mastery of one of the biggest pedal boards I've ever seen. Many of those other moments come from Hunter Allen's confounding ability to power out heavy drum beat while having his way with a keyboard and synthesized Atari. The duo's instrumental music is more than just post-rock. It certainly [...]
Y'all like Morrissey ? Well, I do. Everyone should know that. These girls got to open for Morrissey when a certain event happened that got the previous opener kicked off tour. Come talk to me about it! Not really happy that someone got booted off a Morrissey tour, but I probably wouldn't have hear Girl In A Coma if it didn't happen. They are worth checking out, so why don't you find out for yourself on Tuesday night? [...]

We could not be more excited to announce this show!!! Backseat has been around for over three years now and one of the best things about running the site has been meeting amazing people. Owen Ashworth is one of those people. He started using the moniker " Casiotone for the Painfully Alone " back in 1997 and five albums, countless EPs and 73s, and years of relentless touring later, he's decided to retire the moniker (and the songs) and move on to new things. Before he does though, he is heading out on one final tour [...]
