Tweet Buy the album from Amazon - MP3 | CD Ask anyone in Knoxville, Tennessee who the best local band is, and they'll tell you, hands down, The Dirty Guv'nahs. They've been voted "Best Band" by the city's leading alternative newspaper, Metro Pulse, for three years in a row now, and for good reason. After all, they're Knoxville's biggest success story, even going so far as playing at Bonnaroo [...]

I attended a DIY zine launch on June 19, 2011 . The zine is called Static Zine and it is a collective lifestyle and arts zine run out of Toronto. The first issue came out during NXNE. The free event took place at two different places. First it was at Sky Blue Sky which is an amazing sandwich place on 605 Bloor Street West. The sandwich is so good and they have some softdrinks like Cherry Coke, Crush in glass bottle and the different [...]

Words by Jacob Barron There is literally no such thing as Thanksgiving music. I'm serious. Go look it up. At its worst, it's smarmy new age cheese and gag-worthy nationalism that you can buy at your local Christian bookstore. At its best, it's co-opted classical, with Peer Gynt Suites and Greensleeves galore, but while Christmas songs are written expressly about Christmas, somehow I doubt that when Vivaldi sat down to write the Four Seasons, he was thinking about that new harvest holiday that was becoming all the rage in the colonies. [...]
Food-related props abound through the ages: Queen Victoria's consort Prince Albert had several horseradish-filled white sauces named after him (which, to me, just inspires unwelcome visions of their marital bed); Napoleon inspired the sweet Bonaparte's ribs (which reminds of Marie Antoinette's famously misunderstood advice to starving peasants: "Let them eat cake!"); and then there are hundreds of bands named after funny-sounding foods. But one Toronto eatery may be on to something with their Wilco-centric sandwichery, the Sky Blue Sky Sandwich Company. Their entire menu is comprised of carefully crafted sammies named after [...]
Despite a horrible lead-in (courtesy of the Black Eyed Peas), CBS did a nice job with a human interest story on Chicago-bred rock underdogs Wilco. Interviewer: "I bragged to about 20 of my closest friends that I was going to be doing a story on Wilco. Ten people said "Oh my god, you're so lucky", and the other ten said, "What's a wilco?". Tweedy: I'll take that. That's a... that's a pretty good percentage. Geez. [...]
by kevin diamond Here's the short version: Wilco (the album) is better than Sky Blue Sky , but not as good as Yankee Hotel Foxtrot . The end. Artist: Wilco Song: You and I [...]

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars Everyone always has Wilco on the mind. No matter where you go, you find someone you know that adores Wilco, which is acceptable, as they've managed to put out some phenomenal records. The question on everyone's lips will be whether or not Wilco (The Album) will be one of those feats of greatness, or something along the lines of Sky Blue Sky. More than likely, once everyone has listened for an ample amount [...]

In short: Wilco's newest effort Wilco (The Album) is good, not great. It follows the honest-and-straightforward feel of 2007's Sky Blue Sky as the band takes further steps away from the experimentation of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost is Born . The album contains a few select tunes which are undeniably catchy and inspiring, while others feel like they are missing that certain edge and sense of urgency that made their previous records such a success. [...]

Following up on a "story" reported here earlier this week (I put "story" in quotes because the unveiling of album artwork is as much of a newsworthy story as that stupid debate about Miss California), Wilco (The Band) is streaming Wilco (The Album), their new album slated to come out next month. Apparently the album leaked so they posted a stream of the full album. I'm listening to new Wilco music! A glorious day indeed. Hear Wilco (The Album) Upon [...]

The new Wilco album is entitled Wilco (The Album). From what I gather, there is also a song called "Wilco (The Song)" or something along those lines. Here's the album cover, if album covers still existed... Looks absurd. Funny. Surreal. The band's previous album covers tend to be rather simplistic. Wonder if their departure from previous album cover styles indicates a departure musically on their new disc. All I know is I can't wait to hear it. Album drops 6/30. [...]

Wilco have revealed a few details about their forthcoming, as-yet-untitled album. The album and follow-up to 2007's ' Sky Blue Sky ' is slated for US release sometime in June. The tracklisting for the new album has been released and features 10-tracks. Wilco Tracklisting: 1. 'Deeper Down' 2. 'Conscript (aka I'll Fight)' 3. 'One Wing' 4. Solitaire' 5. 'Wilco (the song)' [...]

Wilco have announced the future release of a live DVD due out later this year. ' Ashes Of American Flags ' is slated for release in February or March and will feature live performances from their February 2008 show at the Nashville Ryman Auditorium and the Tulsa Cain Ballroom . The live DVD may be followed by a new studio album, the follow-up to 2007's ' Sky Blue Sky ', which the band plans to release sometime this year. Wilco - [...]
by phil miller Happy New Year Wilco fans; Eerily enough as I'm sitting here listening to Wilco's 2005 live double album Kicking Television (which is an incredible listen FYI), I just read Jeff Tweedy's letter to fans detailing the bands upcoming release schedule. 2009 will bring not only the earlier reported follow-up album to 2007's Sky Blue Sky in the spring, but another live album/DVD entitled "Ashes of American Flags," chronicling their February 2008 shows at Nashville's Ryman [...]
Just after I tracked down all those new Wilco songs yesterday, Wilco hit the Colbert Report for an interview and a special performance of another new song titled "Wilco the Song." This song might disspell my previous notion that this new material was following a similar path to that of their last album Sky Blue Sky. "Wilco The Song" bears a much harder, rougher sound than the other new Wilco tracks we've heard thus far. Jeff Tweedy was also interviewed by Stephen Colbert before the performance and Colbert tries to convince him to change his name to Jeff Silky, after [...]

by phil miller Good news for Wilco fans- Jeff Tweedy announced today he plans to have a new Wilco album sealed and delivered for Spring 2009. The album will be the bands seventh studio release and follow up to 2007's mellow and straight forward Sky Blue Sky and 2004's much more experimental A Ghost Is Born . SPIDERS (KIDSMOKE) BY WILCO: A couple [...]

To say I am knackered would be a royal understatement. It was a non-stop weekend of late nights and early mornings. And also a weekend of celebrating. Saturday started with the celebration of my Nan's 95th birthday. An occasion which saw the coming together of the family and the meeting of eldest family member with the youngest, 3 month old Bailey. Despite the vast difference in age, there were some resemblances. Both are small, wrinkled and probably weren't 100% sure of what was going on. For while my Nan is doing well for her age, she [...]

Three things have come to my attention concerning Volta recently; first the cover art: Gorgeous, huh? Also, another tracklist has appeared, and I think this one may be real: 01. Earth Intruders 02. Wanderlust 03. Dull Flame 04. Innocence 05. I See Who You Are 06. Vertabrae 07. Pneumonia 08. Hope 09. Declare Independence 10. My Juvenile Finally, a fake leak made it's way onto a [...]

Well, now that it's been a few weeks since 'the incident', I'm thinking it's finally safe to post about Wilco again. I've caught the Sky Blue Sky listening party twice now, so I've heard the album quite a bit lately. Personally, I find it a little too mellow, and not experimental enough, but it's still a good listen for a rainy day. A few of my favorite tracks are 'Impossible Germany', 'Hate It Here', and 'On And On And On'. Impossible Germany is type of alt-country/rock track that Sky Blue Sky needs more of, while I love 'Hate It Here' [...]
