We had a track by Rejuvination (Glenn Gibbons and Jim Moutune) a couple of weeks back. Here's another slab of their 1994 techno on Soma Recordings. This is an uncompromising, pounding piece of techno. It requires strobes and dry ice in a dark club for proper consideration. Rejuvination - Psychophenetic Buy
Dj Charts: Nightglows Feb 2012 Essentials, incl. 10 tracks, genres: Techno, Tech House, Deep House.

From an early release on Slam's Soma Recordings, comes this 1994 track by Rejuvination, who comprised a couple of founders of Soma (more here ). Their Introduction LP in 1995 was delicate glacial techno. This track predates that and precedes it in being a harder piece of techno offset to a limited extend by the strings.

Since 1996, Drumcode has grown to become an institution in the global techno scene, encompassing a radio program, an event series, and a home for the musical vision of its artists and founder, Adam Beyer. "15 Years Of Drumcode" celebrates this landmark by focusing on the present. There are no throwbacks, rehashings, or remixes of the label's back catalogue. Instead, the 28-track compilation showcases the newest work of Drumcode's current roster alongside fresh material from some well known names from the label's history and special contributions from some of techno's undisputed heavyweights.

Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Music , New Releases Vanguard Records Chris Isaak has some advice for youngsters looking to play that old-time rock 'n' roll -- you'd better know how to sing. "A lot of bands don't have a good singer," says the 55-year-old crooner behind such hits as 'Wicked Game' and 'Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing.' "It's like a team without a good pitcher or [...]

Last Friday I went to Bowery Electric to catch the end of the Cantora records showcase. I headed out the door towards the chic Cooper Union building and could see the crowd splattering out into the street from a block away. It was loud, it was hot, and there were a ton of people downstairs. By an excellent twist of fate, Slam Donahue didn't take the stage until around 10:30 by which time I was able to finagle my way into the back, where the guys from Emil and Friends were hanging out and I peeped the beginning [...]
Official music video for "The Lone Ranger" by Everliven Sound (Cymarshall Law & Skit Slam). Directed by Leslie Wai.

As the hangovers start to settle in after the Soma 20th birthday celebrations, the label keeps the releases flowing and shows no sign of resting on their laurels. Continuining the remixes theme, this next edition sees Soma go back to the roots of the label and set the remixers to work on the imprint's first release - Slam's "Eterna" . The original is a progressive house classic and Radio Slave turn in a brilliant rework that retains the depth and atmosphere of the original while bringing it up to date [...]

Between hosting a kids television show, writing an advice column for a Japanese magazine, giving lectures at universities about partying, and owning his own nightclub, he barely has time to squeeze in his primary job as a musician. Not everyone feels Andrew W.K. came about his empire organically, though. Certain naysayers have [...]

With the special Triple CD already released, all that remains is for you to have one hell of a party to properly mark the occasion. Joining Slam on the night are label mates Silicone Soul and Funk D'Void , who will no doubt bring the tunes that you all want to hear. We thought we'd celebrate the event once more with a bumper crop of classic tunes from Soma Quality Recordings . [...]

She's got the publicity side sorted, but where's the f---ing music?" Though he earlier admitted [...]

Download audio file (Horse-Ride-Original-Mix.mp3) Ever heard of Slam recordings from California? I certainly haven't. They launched in San Fransisco in April 2011 , their about page is still empty and the number of facebook fans have so far grown to 18 people :) Never-less the imprints second EP sounds very promising. The original track is funky, sounds great on a large system and is just enough electro to get an extra flavor without getting to cheesy. A bunch of progressive and [...]
In this collection of CDs though, Slam look forward to the future, as they have persisted in doing throughout their 20+ year career. Orde and Stuart have gone through all the remixes, revisions and reconstructions of past Soma gems that we have worked on throughout the last 12 months, and moulded a DJ mix of where Slam stand in a current climate. One that shows depth, groove and jack in a 65 minute show-down. Having run their various club nights for these 20 years, they have played at all points of the night; from doors opening to doors closing; warm-up [...]
