I'd characterize my viewing of the television series Love and Hip Hop as a guilty pleasure, but I don't really enjoy watching the reality show. Yet I can't tear myself away from the shrill drama perpetuated by misguided rappers and their farcical love interests. The supposed real life of Joe Budden looks miserable. I've always liked the guy and I'm a big fan of his supergroup Slaughterhouse. Unfortunately, nothing on Budden's new hit album No Love Lost is remotely as good as the [...]
Day 4 of our 4-day countdown of the best of the year. Part 1 (80-61) can be found here . Part 2 (60-41) can be found here . Part 3 (40-21) can be found here . To recap: AlbatRoss and I had 2 guidelines that we stuck to in compiling this list: 1) it had to be rap (meaning no R&B - Frank Ocean and Miguel had killer years but they won't be found on this list) and 2) one song per project on the list. We did this (including honorable mentions, of course) to make sure we brought a [...]

When I saw Slaughterhouse was on Hot 97 recently, I knew this one was on it's way. Rosenberg calls this the best interview with SH that's ever been done, and I tend to believe that statement. Big up to this. Also, the Juan Epstein App is available now - check that out!
On their first album for Shady Records, hip hop supergroup incorporates a disappointing amount of commercialized beats and hooks, which really kills what little lyrical chemistry these guys have going for them. WATCH THE REVIEW
Doc Zeus welcomes you to Fall. What some cynical ass shit this is… “Lyricism” gets a bad rap these days. You may also know it as “lyrical ass lyricism,” “rappity rapping,” and “that boring stuff between all the adlibs.” But when practiced properly by a licensed professional, pure lyricism can be as thrilling and integral to popular music as a hot beat or industry co-signs. Think of the acute attention to detail in an Action Bronson song or the verbal dexterity displayed when Roc Marciano gets rolling. Certain contrarians are quick to [...]
] New music video by Slaughterhouse "Throw It Away." © 2012 Interscope iTunes: Welcome To: Our House (Deluxe Version) - Slaughterhouse
Grown men in pig masks freak me out. That was the conclusion I came to about midway through Slaughterhouse's visuals for "Throw It Away." Of course, that statement doesn't speak [...] The post Slaughterhouse Feat. Swizz Beatz - "Throw It Away" Video appeared first on The Smoking Section .
1. "Our House" - Slaughterhouse feat. Eminem & Skyler Grey. A fitting top choice, as Slaughterhouse's second studio album, Welcome To Our House was released just today (Tuesday). This song, which lends itself to the title of the album, features a hook from Skyler Grey and a verse from Shady boss Eminem. 2 other songs on the album also feature Mr. Mathers but this is the only one in which he contributes a full verse. Album review coming soon Slaughterhouse feat. Eminem & Skyler Grey - Our House 2. "Flower Child" - Nitty Scott MC [...]
Slaughterhouse and Eminem only have one prayer, to be the best. They explain so in this really dope new cut, "Our House" off their new album, Welcome To Our House. The record also features Skylar Grey, and again sees the Slaughterhouse emcees open up about their careers and aspirations. Peep it below.
Is there any wisdom in dropping a mix tape just over a week before dropping an album proper? Up until now, I'd have said absolutely none. In fact, it seems rather stupid to me. But even this Grumpy Old Man With A Beard ™ is willing to concede that I sometimes get it wrong. Okay, okay, quite often. So when Slaughterhouse - the pin up posse for underground fan boys the world over - dropped their new mix tape On The House a mere eight [...]
It's getting closer to that album release time and Shady records rap group Slaughterhouse( Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Royce da 5'93, and Crooked I) teamed up with Eminem to drop another leak for the fans. Now it is apparent in the rap game that when many artists go mainstream they decide to have at least one "romantic" sexy track and "Throw That" is that single for their upcoming album. With lines like "She strips to get tips, those lips and those child bearing hips, Ill throw this dick on you girl", this game is as close [...]

Take a behind the scenes look at one of the week's better cuts, Slaughterhouse's "Truth Or Truth," which is 15 minutes of phenomenal MC'ing over Rozay’s “Tears Of Joy.” The post Watch Slaughterhouse Recording "Truth Or Truth" appeared first on The Smoking Section .
Tears of Joy is becoming one of my favorite beats to have come out in the past few years. Just seems like every rapper to hop on the No I.D. joint ends up blacking out on it. This one is no different, featuring the lyrical juggernaut supergroup. Royce does come off weakest on the track, but Joe Budden locks in. Joey might have a verse of the year candidate here and shows why his honesty has earned him his cult fan base. Their mixtape On The House [...]
Some of Slaughterhouse's finest moments have come when they rhyme over other rappers' beats and "Truth or Truth" is the latest on the list. Created over Officer Ricky's "Tears of [...] The post Slaughterhouse - "Truth Or Truth" appeared first on The Smoking Section .
