The Pitch: Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker recently revealed to Q Magazine that they have no more gigs planned after the inaugural S.S. Coachella cruises, and ruled out any new material. Perfect excuse to attend, right? Once the lineup was revealed back in July, I immediately created a Facebook group, adding every friend that expressed the slightest interest in attending. Thankfully I found two that were willing to book the cruise with only four days notice. Pulp people are the best people, after all, and definitely hardcore. I didn't know that I would [...]

For those who didn't get their Coachella fix this year ( or didn't get tickets to next year's fest ), festival promoter Goldenvoice has a solution: the S.S. Coachella. Departing from Ft. There will also be "unique events," including wine tastings with James Murphy and late night performances. Get the full details on [...]
Lots of acts have played on cruise ships recently: Weezer, Kid Rock, John Mayer. Although, a lot of those acts have sucked for much of the recent past, so cruise [...]
Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a music-filled ship that starts from Fort Lauderdale.

Durante el mes de diciembre, el Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival presentará su propio crucero, el S.S. S.S. Coachella (Dec 16-19, Dec 19-23) Reflecting a growing trend of youth-focused music cruises, Coachella will introduce the S.S. Coachella in December, with two trips through the Caribbean featuring Pulp, Hot Chip, Girl Talk, Yeasayer, Sleigh Bells, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and about 15 other acts. ... Goldenvoice, the Los Angeles concert promoter behind Coachella, resisted jumping on the bandwagon until it found what Paul Tollett, its president, described as the perfect vessel: the Celebrity Silhouette, a 1,000-foot, 122,000-ton ship with room for 2,800 fans, cabana-style alcoves and [...]

Could Gary Richards and Holy Ship!! have started a new trend, festivals by sea? Well Paul Tollett (Goldenvoice President) has decided to give it a go with Coachella. The S.S. Coachella will embark on two voyages in December, a three-day trip going to the Bahamas and a four-day version hitting Jamaica. The ship even has grass. Like the stuff you sit on, you'll probably have to bring the stoner “Jamaican” variety yourself. Considering how popular dance music is right now, how packed the Sahara tent has been since Daft Punk blew it up, it's a [...]

Thee Oh Sees' John Dwyer called out to Ty Segall a couple of times during his band's show at Pitchfork Music Festival Sunday. Segall was playing across the park on another stage. Later, Segall asked the entire audience to yell Dwyer. The joke is that these guys had to compete with each other even though they largely have the same fan base. If you're a fan of both bands (like me), you had to miss part of one performance. I watched the entire set by Thee Oh Sees and ran across Union [...]

CHAPPO – “Hell No” (NSFW) I would have loved to see the Craigslist casting call CHAPPO put out for this video. Hot Chip – “Night and Day” Now I know what all those [...]
