If you like Beach House, definitely give Memoryhouse’s new album The Slideshow Effect a spin. Dreamy loops, reverb-heavy vocals, and songs that grow on you the more you listen. The album is filled with many mellow ballads (“Pale Blue”, “Kinds of Light”), but the band is at its best when it goes a little up-tempo. “The Kids Were Wrong” is an early highlight. The album as a whole though, has very post-rock feel, in that each of the songs attempt to build to some great cathartic climax. Some of the songs are successful, whereas others are a little [...]
Memoryhouse is a band that is generally out of the realm of genres I often find myself aligned with. This female-fronted, (originally) two-piece group out of southern Ontario plays a style of music that is clearly influenced by bands not unlike My Bloody Valentine (I originally heard the band through a fantastic "While You Sleep" cover) and other ambient shoegaze acts on their earlier albums - the Lately 73, Caregiver 73, and The Years EP. Now, after all of these brief releases, Memoryhouse has released a full-length this year entitled The Slideshow Effect [...]
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE HEAVY MACHINERY WHILE LISTENING TO MEMORYHOUSE. Their full-length album debut, The Slideshow Effect has just been released under the Sub Pop label. The album follows their EP The Years from 2011, a re-release of their first collection of songs by the same name. If you’re familiar with Memoryhouse, then you pretty much know what you’re getting into upon pressing play. The band, so far, has made a name for themselves as a dream-pop group who focuses on nostalgia as a common theme throughout their songs. This album stays right in their wheelhouse. [...]
New album from Toronto's dream-popping duo the MEMORYHOUSE has leaked. THE SLIDESHOW EFFECT D.O.B : February 27, 2012 Label : Sub Pop Tracklist : 1. Little Expressionless Animals 2. The Kids Were Wrong 3. All Our Wonder 4. Punctum 5. Heirloom 6. Bonfire 7. Pale Blue 8. Walk With Me 9. Kinds Of Light 10. Old Haunts via : Torrents
Memoryhouse's Evan Abeele builds compositions that feel vaguely out of focus, where edges are blurred so that it's unclear where one piece of the puzzle begins and another ends. On " The Kids Were Wrong " Memoryhouse's incarnation of dream-pop felt predictably bright, but on "Walk With Me" Denise Nouvion strikes a bit of a different tone, creating a track that feels more introspective and personal than the usual warm beach tunes. [...]
Remember ' Sleep Patterns '? Memoryhouse received much praise for their debut EP 'The Years' in 2010 (re-released through Sub Pop last September). The Toronto duo have even bigger plans for 2012 as they release their full length record 'The Slideshow Effect' on February 28 featuring the album cut 'Walk With Me'. This is a much clearer and intimate Memoryhouse than their lo-fi bedroom beginnings. Download audio file (Memoryhouse-Walk-With-Me.mp3) Order Memoryhouse's 'The Slideshow Effect' [...]

Canadianos, primeiro álbum depois do EP The Years, Evan [...]

Memoryhouse – “The Kids Were Wrong”
To celebrate today's release of The Slideshow Effect , Memoryhouse liberate the visuals to lead single, "The Kids Were Wrong". After watching the video, one thing is clear, these guys are champions of nostalgia. And "cute" and "romantic" don't really do this video, or track for that matter, justice. The Slideshow Effect is out now.
[new music roundup] 2/28/12
A few of my favorite new releases this week, including the latest from Fanfarlo , the Kid Cudi and Dot da Genius side-project/experiment WZRD , and The Cranberries' first studio album in 10 (long) years . As always, you'll definitely want to check out the much more comprehensive list of this week's releases over at Largehearted Boy . Enjoy. [...]

ALBUM REVIEW: “The Slideshow Effect” by Memoryhouse
Evan Abeele and Denise Nouvion, the yin and yang that make up Memoryhouse, have crafted a quietly rocking album.

Memoryhouse – The Slideshow Effect
It sounds daft now, but I was hoping this Canadian duo was a Memory Tapes/Beach House hybrid, a chillwave-dream pop chimera, with scuffed beats, reverbed vocals and 5 a.m. sunrise synths aplenty. If that was on your wish-list too, look away now. Fans of terribly polite indie are on to a winner though. The arrival of the debut album from Ontario natives Memoryhouse has been has been well signposted on the blogs for a year or two, after their well-received Hipstamatic-filtered EP The Years from 2010, which got re-rerecorded on Sub Pop [...]
