Snails is Bristolian Dan Weltman (who also plays acoustic blues under the name 'Hollowbody'), who recruited vocalist Mog Fry for this single of cinematic folksong – one moment, 'She'd Like An Hour' could be soundtracking the Wicker Man, the next moment it's more suited to Midnight Cowboy. There's a real sense of glorious ennui as it floats along on chamber-pop arrangements and a gorgeous Francoise Hardy singing style. 'Daylight Ends' on the other side is an acoustic, folk-poppy, pretty duet, making this single one to embrace fondly.

A sizzling slice of Acid house for you to wrap round your eardrums today; Instra:Mental recently put out a split release on Martyn's 3024 label with Trevino, his side is pure 3am, hold on to your ribcage vibes. Check the full release at Boomkat . Instra:Mental- Pyramid

Being that my typical night consists of hitting the sack at around 10pm, and that my new radio show is Friday nights from 10pm to midnight, I figured that my second show would center around the theme of sleep . So I pieced together a playlist of bedroom pop, chill wave, dreamy shoegaze and what I've dubbed as psychedelic ambiance. I took over for Stuarto just after 10 with a brief description of my first track, which I don't believe made it on air. The switch-over was a bit rushed [...]

Sink your ears into this exquisite folk offering from Snails. The British duo are set to release a limited edition 7" next week via The Great Pop Supplement, and I certainly like what I hear so far. The song is more downbeat, and borders on melancholy at times, but never crosses over that threshold into sadness. Overall, I like the harmonies and minimalistic instrumentation. I feel like these are

Ah yes, the indie folk phenomenon. See, the Internet scene isn't just full of dubstep, you know; for every Nero, there's an Iron & Wine (you know, those guys that did that BITCHIN' Postal Service cover?). A few representative acts, some fresh and others recognizable, entered our sonic awareness today. As expected, none of them are really my cup of tea - Last American Buffalo's "I Know" is hokey as hell and "Daylight Ends" from Snails somehow achieves twee levels of stomach-turning sweetness. Last American Buffalo - I Know [...]

Snails is a lovely indie pop band from Bristol that plays sleepy songs in the vein of California Snow Story and Fireflies. The band is releasing a new 7-inch single this month on The Great Pop Supplement record label, featuring "Shed like an hour" and "Daylight ends". Bordering on one end bedroom pop and on another folksy twee, the duo of Dan Weltman and Mog Fry have created a project that produces luscious pop tunes perfect for the pending rainy season. [...]

Tweet I don't know about the rest of you but as I get older I am finding life increasingly busy. Or to put it in grown-up terms there is less time to spend on doing the stuff I really love doing. Namely, spending hours on end listening to songs from bands I've never heard of and falling in love with some of them. Not that that particular pursuit is especially fun but the rewards are worth it. So as the volume of [...]

Bristol's Snails, as their name suggests, take it easy. Way easy. Try on this typically British, subtly arranged folkpop nugget and you'll probably agree it's rather hard to believe we're talking a debut single here. Out now on the Great Pop Supplement label. Snails - She'd Like An Hour MP3
Monday, October 10, 2011 Today's Quick Mention: Tonight is probably a good night to catch a movie or to find a nice place to watch Monday Night Football, but if you need some live music you could see Kevin Devine and An Horse at Emo's. Sounds for your Monday. Enjoy. : Duchess Says - Time To Reiterate : A couple of years back this band had a raucous track titled Ccut Up that made my year-end top song list. This, [...]
heRobust has steadily been climbing on the beat scence since Albumin hit his bandcamp a few months ago, and he recently sent over a video SlurpTV made for Snail Gate . This celestial video collage comments on the liturgy of consumerism and is a perfect accompaniment to my favorite track on the EP. You can still snag Albumin for free on his bandcamp , and check out more unreleased material on his soundcloud . heRobust - Snail Gate
Last night, I had a tough decision to make: I could go see Dan Yemin, Andy Nelson, Atom, and a few others do Black Flag covers as TV Casualty... or I could go see the sweet, sweet ska beats of The Slackers. I decided it's been a little bit of a while since I've seen The Slackers play, so I headed out to West Chester's Note to catch the NYC ska band. The show was 18+, and there were a decent

As they say, with a name like the Magnificent Snails, it better be good. Luckily for the local trio, who drops their debut EP, Baby Acid Trips , this week, they brandish a kind of pop flair that manages to be both catchy and continually interesting. With touches of horns and experimental torques, the Snails can ripple with softly gleaming harmonies, bounce with a kind of Vampire Weekend punch of infectiousness and even cut funky, garage-glam with an effective relish. Despite the fact that the trio includes Austin Sound contributor Chris Galis, we still recommend checking them out this [...]

• Remember a few months ago I was contacted by a casting agent and asked to submit an application to appear on a reality television program about picky eaters ? Well, the show has apparently started airing, and I was never selected to be a part of the show. It's called "Freaky Eaters" and...thank God I dodged that bullet. CNN ran an article reviewing the show today. Apparently it's about people who literally only eat one food. Like, a woman who eats french fries at every meal, or a guy who only eats cheeseburgers. My "picky" diet was described [...]

This is a pretty multi-faceted post here. However, the focus is on this Turkish band Fuji Kureta . They are a super tranced out minimal electronic duo from Istanbul, with lyrics both in French and in English. They recently reached out to me, and so I thought I'd peruse their musics. They have an EP "Sweets" out right now featuring six songs that you can actually download from a link on their myspace . And read more about on their Last.fm page . The other reason I couldn't help but post this is for my [...]
