May 12, 2011, Cabaret La Tulipe, Montreal, QC Approaching the venue, anticipation was in the air, as The Airborne Toxic Event's tour bus came into view. An interview was in the works before their performance at Cabaret La Tulipe in Montreal. This being the first time I would see The Airborne Toxic Event in person, not to mention the fact that doing a live interview would be a bit intimidating, to say the least. The ticker flashed its lights and showcased this accomplished and distinct band. The imperturbable Mikel Jollett strolled off the bus, only to [...]

So, I know I'm a bit late on the parade with this band, but that's not a reason to keep from posting about them. I present to you the Airborne Toxic Event . The L.A. band, was formed by Mikel Jollett after he had the worst week of his life: he went through a bad break up , his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and he found out he had a genetic autoimmune disease. They do say that bad things come in threes, don't they? [...]
Weird... Awhile back, I posted about how I'd been hearing The Airborne Toxic Event songs in the strangest places: Buick commercials, over the din in a loud Starbucks.... Today, I was doing some digging around for some recent footage to add to a quick post on U2's 25th anniversary release of The Unforgettable Fire and came across a snippet of an interview with Bono on French tv. And what did I hear in it? Yup, you got it. Weird. But also pretty damn cool. [...]
Album and live concert review of The Airborne Toxic Event's self-titled debut album. Includes video for 'Sometime Around Midnight' and new single 'Does This Mean You're Moving On?'
Sure, it's at least a little pretentious for a band to name themselves after anything taken from a DeLillo novel. But damn if it isn't up there in my mind with Gatsby and Grapes of Wrath as holding some of the finest final pages of any American novel: The supermarket shelves have been rearranged. It happened one day without warning. There is agitation and panic in the aisles, dismay in the faces of older shoppers... There is a sense of wandering now, an aimless and haunted mood, sweet-tempered people taken to the [...]
We haven't posted about our old favorites The Airborne Toxic Event in the last little while so here is their debut on the Late Show with David Letterman this past Friday. The group playing strings in back of violinist/keyboardist Anna Bullock is Anna's brother's group, The Calder Quartet . Hard to believe it wasn't even a year ago that we saw them at SXSW 08. Kudos kids! Subscribe in a reader

Well I wished I'd leave around that time from work...but it seems that I'm in for yet another long run here at work..Anyway, enjoy The Airborne Toxic Event (despite what Pitchfork may say about them).

California band The Airborne Toxic Event [ Official Site , Myspace ] recently stopped by the All Access studios for a powerful performance of ???Sometime Around Midnight??? at Stage 5 . More videos and mp3s "after the jump" "Sometime Around Midnight" [ mp3 ]
Between Love and Like favorites, The Airborne Toxic Event are busy rocking the masses across the pond for the next couple of days, but that didn't stop them from sending out information this morning (or I guess afternoon as they're in England) on the lastest in their 10-songs-in-10-weeks acoustic song series . As we're on Week 7, that means track 7 which is the ethereal rocker and proven fan maker , "Sometime Around Midnight." They didn't include a lot of info this time about where the video was shot and such, but they [...]

West coast-bred rockers The Airborne Toxic Event have once and for all proven that taking a band name from a reference in a Don DeLillo book may just be the most indie thing an upstart band could do (also, Bret Easton Ellis or Paul Auster, natch). It seems like much of the opposite side of the country has been sleeping hard on these guys for over a year now, and that's got to stop. So of course, here we are, adding these guys to our illustrious (?) list of "emerging" artists we want you all to [...]

(A still from the video) Would you like to see The Airborne Toxic Event 's new video, "Sometime Around Midnight," not just now but for the next month or so? Then go vote for it. Yahoo's New Music section has the video and if Airborne receives the most votes, they'll keep the video up for the next month. Votes are being accepted for the next 48 hours.
